Steller's Jay has been recorded in 13 counties in SW Kansas and has occurred
as far east as Lawrence, about 400 miles east of Burlington. The point
being, I suppose, that once some of these birds leave the mountains and head
east, they just keep on going!

on the High Plains, realized that it hadn't rained since last fall,
