He's a cute little guy, isn't he? It took me awhile to find him too. Definitely
worth it. I'm so glad you found him!!! Congrats!

The Bobcat Ridge, Larimer Co. American Woodcock continues this morning
after 10am on 27 Feb. An adult Northern Goshawk on the road coming in was
a nice bird too.

The evanescent American Woodcock was in the creek a bit east of the ranger's
house this afternoon, so, obviously it's still around. Could be seen from the
county road that runs through the area.
Thanks to Joe Roller for teaching me the word "timberdoodle" for this hard to
spot species,
On my second try in 2017, I was shown the American Woodcock at Bobcat Ridge
Natural Area today. My first visit was 26Jan and after a thorough check of all
places anyone had ever seen a woodcock over the last three years, pretty much
assumed the bird(s) had departed. Then several reports of
Seen today at noon in the stream across from the white house at the
upstream end of the fence line. It was our fifth try for this bird but
well worth the effort.

Today at 1:30 p.m. the American Woodcock was again present at Bobcat Ridge
Natural area (Larimer Co) in the small stream across from the ranger house. I
was pleasantly surprised to see and photograph three Eastern Bluebirds in the
same place, going down toward the water, back into the trees,
The Woodcock was seen this morning along the small stream 40 feet
downhill from entrance to ranger's house. Reported by Joe Mammoser

Diana and I were among about a dozen birders who saw the American Woodcock at
Bobcat Ridge Natural Area opposite the ranger's house, within 10 ft of the
road, this morning at ~9:30 am. Although many people have now seen this special
Colorado bird last year at least, the precise location (map
An American Woodcock is present at Bobcat Ridge Natural Area. It is in the same
stream as the one found here last year, perhaps the same bird? We found this
one right by the entrance to the parking lot.

Hello, birders,
Today, Monday, there were 12 of us birders at 12:30 pm, looking from the
road in front of the ranger's house for the American Woodcock. Up and down
the road we paced, looking down at the stream. Barb and I heard leaves
rustling, probably just a mouse. After 40 minutes I had
Hi Cobirders,
I arrived at Bobcat Ridge NA a little before 2pm. Parking was available
at that moment, but the NA was clearly busy, not surprising considering
the beautiful sunny windless 60 degree Sunday.
Four or five birders were on the woodcock and kindly pointed it out to
me. It was

We just returned from seeing a life bird which I had hoped to view for some
time. Many thanks to Dawn Wilson for remaining there from noon to at least
3:30PM, when we left. We had our scope and enjoyed showing the bird to 10 to
15 people. We all viewed from the road and met many nice people
COBirders,
As of 11:00 a.m. this morning the American Woodcock found by Simonds
yesterday and reported by others is still at Bobcat Ridge Natural Area
along the small creek that flows along the east side of the road. The bird
is between the ranger house and upstream to where the next house is.
Fawn Simonds found an AMERICAN WOODCOCK along a ditch/creek at Bobcat Ridge
Natural Area in Larimer County today 1/15/15. David Wade, Georgia Doyle,
and I re-found the bird in a different spot it had been seen before, but
same general area. The bird moves around sometimes, so look everywhere.
For those of you going to Fountain Creek Nature Center for the Woodcock:
There have been numerous break-ins at the north parking lot, including our
vehicle.
It is much better to go a bit further south and park at the Visitor Centre
where there are security cameras. The center is open
Folks,
Some more photos and a short video of the American Woodcock can be viewed at

Hi all,
Since there might be more of these around (wishful hoping probably), I thought
it might be important to in-form the birding community, that an American
Woodcock was found dead in a yard in Colorado Springs, El Paso, near the U. of
Colorado, Colorado Springs (UCCS), last Saturday
Deb Carsteson, Claire Montour and myself were some of the birders who spent
time looking for the A. Woodcock today. **Note, of special interest is the
following . We met an individual who told me today, that the Woodcock was in
her yard and would my friends and myself like to look at her
