Of interest. This afternoon 1/31/2022 on my walk through our neighborhood open
space, I encountered a flock of (at least) 30 Mourning Dove. Which trumps the 2
male Robins that appeared late last week.
I faithfully bird the open space area that runs along Dad Clark Trail from
University Blvd,

I have had these two mourning doves hanging in my yard the past four days
or so. They are always on the ground when I see them and by the time I see
them I am often only four feet or so from them. They don't seem very
active. I am not in the yard much. I do not know how much time they are
Just yesterday, I was staring out my back door at a pair of Eurasian
Collared Doves, pining for our more subtle, more softly spoken native
doves. I rarely see them in the winter around Centennial, though they're

I had 6 Mourning Doves on the ground under my feeders just as
it was getting dark yesterday. Six is more of them than I had seen total in
the preceding 6 months.

mentioned I was hoping to see Mourning Doves in my back yard since I hadn't
seen any yet this year. Today I learned that Clif and Pearle
Sandstrom-Smith have them in their back yard about ten blocks away. Some

There has been a pair of Morning Doves at my house in Boulder County
all morning. I know that this species overwinters in the state more
and more often, but these are the first I've seen in the county this
year.

Had two mourning doves under my feeder on Lac Amora Park this morning at 7
am. Seems a little late for them to be hanging around.
