Glenn and Cathy (and maybe others) have posted to COBIRDS about the exciting
day at Crow Valley CG yesterday. The marquis species like Mourning Warbler
(male) and Summer Tanager (molting male, western race) were mentioned. Many
other great birds were also noted and photographed like Palm

While out on a run yesterday I had an Indigo Bunting and a Black-headed
Grosbeak singing about 0.3 miles west on the Poudre Bike Trail from the Lee
Martinez Park parking lot link trail and Poudre Bike trail intersection.
There has been an Indigo Bunting in this area for the last 3 years but I
I found the reported Blue-winged Warbler this morning at about 8:15 singing
across the eastern boundary of Welchester Tree Grant Park in Lakewood (8th
Ave) and called it in for a good look. It was a three note buzz, not the
two note I am used to in the East. State bird only one mile from my home!
THANKS to Stephanie Jones for this great find. First Jeffco record I am
aware of this one was
documented in Golden in 1961. (ref Bob and Bob)
It is loyal to the riparian at its downstream exit from the Park onto
private property.
It could be heard at a distance. At least 14 birders have seen it,
Bill (Mr. Chico) Maynard and I were are Chico Basin Ranch this morning. On the

I'm out at Welchester Tree Park with my mom, dad, and Gwen Moore. The male
Blue-winged Warbler is still present and singing his heart out. He is at
the same spot at the east end!

CoBirders,
My visit at Crow Valley today did not produce anything note worthy compared
to earlier visits this week and last. While I still saw about the same
number of species, around 50, I did not have any new warblers. In fact I saw
only Yellow, one Yellow-rumped and one Wilson's Warbler. I did
Today, Ira Sanders and I went out and got great looks at the Blue-winged
Warbler. Also present were Western Tanagers, Rose-breasted Grosbeak, Western
Wood-Pewee, and American Redstart. Thanks to Stephanie Jones to alerting
everyone to this great bird. Photos of the bird can be seen below:
Hi
Didn't detect any fancy warblers, nothing that unusually rare, although a M
Great-tailed Grackle in the new lagoon in the north pasture was of special
interest. What was of interest was the diversity of species, 46 species in just
over two hours, always birds to look at, all in all, a very
All,
I am looking for suggestions about timely reporting, especially of rare
species. We do not have a smart phone and do not have texting on our modest
cellphone. I recently have seen a couple of pretty good birds, but could not
report them for several hours due to our location and other
Yesterday and today I watched and photographed a black headed gull at
DeWeese Reservoir which I am about 90% certain was a breeding plumage Laughing
Gull. I was 100% certain until I read K. Kaufman's caution that some first
summer Franklin's Gulls can resemble an adult Laughing Gull.

Hi Gary,
Again, great photos and I am glad to read Steve's post. Grandchildren are
here for 4 days, so I am not certain how much birding I'll get to do.

BTW, I check your photos on flicker, you are doing a great job. You might

Greetings All
Today felt like Seattle at times. Drizzly and without migrants.
But there were some prime moments.
At dawn, below the dam at Stalker Lake, Yuma, there was a PROTHONOTARY WARBLER
and a PHILADELPHIA VIREO plus Black-and-white Warbler and American Redstart.
