It has been a slow fall for sapsuckers in the Canon City area this year. I
found my first Williamson's Sapsucker on Oct 10 in a dry gulch south of
town then didn't find any in Canon City until November. Things have picked
up in the past week with an immature male Yellow-bellied, 2 male

I've detected *Red Crossbills* passing over my home on Dec 1 (1 bird), Dec
3 (2), and Dec 6 (2). All were Type 2, which is the only form I've yet had
around my home. "Three Jay Days" lately have been pleasant with Blue,
Steller's and Woodhouse's appearing together at the feeders.

Our little Common Redpoll is definitely not an early riser. Seldom does she
make and appearance before 9 am. This morning she held out until 9:50! Had
me afraid she would not show at all. At any rate she is here for the 5th
