Hello all,
Congratulations to Cathy for the sighting of a female Purple Martin at Barr
Lake. A great record and always a nice find in eastern Colorado. On April 29,
1976, I saw a beautiful male Purple Martin along the east side of Barr Lake, on
a cold, cloudy day and mixed in with hundreds
I spent a few hours birding Barr Lake SP (Adams County) from the Fishing
Dock to about 2/3 of the way across the dam (along the riparian habitat
below the dam first and then across the top to come back). Things were
fairly slow on the warbler front, with mostly only YRWA present. I did have
A first of season Lesser Goldfinch male black-backed type, also a green-tailed
towhee, two Clay-colored sparrows singing, a Gray Flycatcher momentarily; House
wrens vocalizing and the Mountain Chickadees are using the nest box again. Seen

The socked in weather with rain and snow brought a lot of migrating Gray
Flycatchers down in Canon City. I saw 25 of them during a one mile walk on
the Canon City Riverwalk. A similar Gray Flycatcher fall out occurred
several years due to weather. I got a couple of nice pics of Gray
Flycatchers

Hey,
I was the original reporter of the el paso county Great Crested Flycatcher. My
ebird observation is still there and the bird was photographed, photos are on
my checklist. If you look in the el paso county rarity alerts you can find it.
Just letting you know so you can include the

Thx Sam - I already corrected it today when it was posted as “continued”.
I’m not sure why on Thursday it originally posted without your name (there was
no name on report when I checked before I had gone to bed). Perhaps e-bird
made error, or you might want to check your settings and see if
Hey everyone,
I'm removing the word "possible" from this post and saying that it was, in
fact, a Field Sparrow.
Here's the ebird list from this morning:

On Saturday, May 11,
This morning, Dan and I stopped by the west side of Tamarack SWA. We heard a
towhee song that was not typical for Spotted Towhee. The singer was found high
in the trees, and we identified him as an EASTERN TOWHEE by his song and wing
pattern, which showed an absence of scapular spotting, with
Since we are right smack in the middle of migration, and this is Spring
Count weekend, I decided to be completely different and go to the foothills
and see which breeders had returned. I ended up with 41 species. A
partial list includes, Dusky Grouse, Wild Turkey, Common Poorwill, Canyon
Did a 4 hour loop today from the Youngfield parking lot sifting through
Yellow-rumps the entire time. North of Clear Creek about midway of West lake
was a Black-throated Gray Warbler. South of Prospect Park and the creek was
another Black-throated and a Townsend's Warbler, both in the same

Yes all,Sam was the original reporter. I had it later in the day (unknown to me
at the time that it had been seen). We had the bird again today on the FCRP May
count.
I certainly do not want any confusion!

Not as busy as yesterday, but plenty to keep us going and lots of species.
Best bird of the day was the first Yellow Warbler of the year that is on
our longevity chart - 2560-93331 was banded as an adult in 2013, so he is
at least 8 years old; we have caught him every year. Here's the
