A fire began at 10:30 last night on US 50 eight miles east of Las Animas
CO, with the passage of a storm front. I read that the fire started
along US 50, moved south with north winds, was confined to a wet stream
bottom and and had jumped Bent County Road JJ, with only one structure

After reviewing more photos of the finches I had this a.m., I'm not so sure
of the Purple Finch ID. I have a photo of the female's beak and it looks
pointed. I never did see the streaking on the breast of the bird as it
stayed in the tray. I was basing my ID on the head pattern and

I saw two American Dippers this afternoon below the I 76 bridges over Clear
Creek. This is downstream of Lowell Blvd.
