Hello, Birders.
Eric Zorawowicz and I met up along Boulder Creek near 75th Street, Boulder
County, where we easily spotted the nice Rusty Blackbird found yesterday by
David Gillilan and Susan Pellegrini. Eric also found a Common Grackle--nearly
as unexpected on 11/27 in Boulder County, I would
Sorry, y'all. Time warp. Change that to 11/28. Wednesday, 11/28 for the
Zorawowicz Floyd sightings along Boulder Creek, Boulder County. My bad.

Brandon,
This bird is VERY similar to (if not the SAME as!) an odd gull observed in
Saskatchewan in October of this year. I think the consensus was a
melanistic Ring-billed gull with partial albinism (i.e., a Ring-billed gull
with serious plumage issues!). Jesse Ellis started a thread on the
I just had an adult male common redpoll in my little townhouse yard in
west Centennial a few minutes ago (Wednesday afternoon), near Holly St
Arapahoe Rd. It was ground-feeding under the seed feeders, hit the water pan
for a quick drink and was gone. I got a couple of mediocre pictures
Hi Cobirders. While out with the Tuesday Birders I saw one Common
Loon from the old Heron overlook in the west part of Chatfield
reservoir .
Then from the east section of the Marina I saw the Pacific Loon. A
two loon day!
The Red-throated Loon has been reported down at Pueblo but we did
Yesterday, Loch Kilpatrick found a Winter Wren along the south side of Boulder
Creek upstream from 75th. It was near the the overhead pipe where we also saw
the Rusty Blackbird. Loch and a few others saw the wren, but I did not since I
was on the wrong side of a big tree stump. I didn't report
Some friends of mine and I last Friday had three winter wrens there, at the
footbridge along the river. I've got a good picture of one if anyone wants to
see it.

Hello,
I saw the Rusty Blackbird on Boulder Creek, upstream (west) of 75th on Nov 28
at 10:15. It was feeding in the river muck on the north-sided waters edge,
just west of where the water from the treatment plant flows into Boulder Creek,
under the pipeline that crosses the creek. It was
There was a basic plumaged adult Mew Gull on the tires at South Shore Marina at
Pueblo Reservoir today. Eight species of gulls were present on the reservoir.
Adult Great Black-backed (which should be here until mid-February), three
Lesser Black-backed (2 adults, 1 first year), and one
Hello COBirders,
For the past few weeks I have been biking fairly regularly along Monument
Creek near downtown Colorado Springs in hopes of an american dipper with
little success. This afternoon, however, having not checked in a few days,
I took a quick ride along the creek and very quickly
Yet another redpoll! A single male redpoll visited our feeders north of Boulder
this morning, high time I felt, given the numerous reports elsewhere. Number
140 for our house list.

That is good news for the water quality in Monument Creek (in that area) as
American Dippers have been used as indicators of water quality in streams.
