Hello, Birders.
Yesterday afternoon, Sunday, Feb. 7, Andrew Floyd and I had pretty much the
whole Denver Zoo to ourselves. Well, us and the animals. I wonder why... ;-)
We found a number of interesting birds, including an apparent *mottled duck
x mallard* hybrid, a *white-throated sparrow,* 8
I found a Black Phoebe today foraging and calling along the Arkansas River
near the Sell's Lake trailhead for the Canon City Riverwalk. I don't know
if it has been further down the river trail since that has been, and still
is, closed for repairs to the trail structure.
Yesterday I drove part of
Yesterday late afternoon into sunset, there were literally thousands of mostly
Canada and some cackling geese in the cornfields just north of Stearn's Lake.
The lake has a large area of open water (helped to stay open by the presence of
so many geese?) that had hundreds of mallards, five male
The three previously reported White-fronted Geese continue to frequent the
Bowles Grove Park area.Today they were across S. Federal Blvd. from the park,
near the tennis tent, on the northeast corner of the intersection of W. Bowles
Ave. and S. Federal Blvd.
