We were back at it today, after a day off for bad weather. Birds were out
and fairly active; we banded 24, caught 1 new that was banded last year,
and recaught a bunch of birds that had been banded earlier this season.
Lots of visitors, for our final Saturday at Chatfield this spring.
I think this is an Alder flycatcher that I saw at the pond by the
Doubletree Hotel in Colorado Springs.

Mark Peterson, Kara Carragher, and I went out and birded Flagler State
Wildlife Area, in Kit Carson County this morning (28 May 2016).
Highlights below the dam: singing male *Golden-winged Warbler*, and three
Red-eyed Vireos. In some other trees around the lake, we saw a heard an *Alder
American Bittern is not normally considered rare and on the RBA.
But the recent report of one in Archuleta county was a first for the
county so I included it on the RBA. When a bird is a new county
record and I know it, then I include it on the RBA and indicate it is
a country record. We do have
5 Caspian Terns and a basic plumage Sanderling this afternoon. Cheryl Teuton

Folks,
Gene Rutherford found a Whimbrel this morning on the swim beach at Cherry Creek
State Park. The bird stayed long enough for a couple of folks to see it before
the onslaught of state park goers sent it to another latitude. Ebird does not
consider this a rarity, although I have seen
Thanks for the post, Eric. I'm going to head out there tomorrow morning for
a Highline Canal run/WEVI-watching session and will confirm if I'm able to
locate him.

First, thanks to Aaron Driscoll and Mark Peterson. Without their posts, we may
not have noticed the differences between the Common and Pacific Loons on the
reservoir this morning.
Not being in breeding plumage, the telltale black chin strap was a great ID
help on the Pacific Loon.

Hello all,
This morning at 9:30 AM, the White-eyed Vireo was at deKoevend Park, but not in
the area where it was originally seen. It was farther east, singing frequently
from shrubs along the canal where the canal and trail go between the outfield
of the softball field and So. University Blvd.
Cole Wild and Irene Fortune called to report a singing yellow-bellied
flycatcher and a singing alder flycatcher among other empids at the Boyd lake
swim beach spit this morning.

This morning around 6:15 AM, I heard the White-eyed Vireo at deKoevend Park
(Arapahoe Co.). It was in the the same area where it's been since the 18th.
