NSUserActivity), I have now established the fundamental theorem of HandOff: It works, when it works. With the corollary: If not, then not. Sometimes, when macOS refuses to see hand-offs from iOS, it helped to change the Bunde Identifier of the iOS app, thus tricking macOS into thinking it got something from an altogether different app. But the more fundamental question: Is it possible to do HandOff from macOS to iOS (without iCloud, sharing documents etc.), just like one can do HandOff from iOS to macOS (using the userInfo to communicate some small data)? I tend to think this is impossible. Any proof to the contrary would be most welcome. Is there anybody on this list actually using HandOff? I tried different things like switching iPhone off and on again, etc. Finally I disabled HandOff on iPhone, reenabled it again and now everything works: iPhone as well as iPad (where I didn’t do anything at all). No idea whether there is a causal relationship between my fumblings a the final positive outcome. Anyway: Universal Clipboard is also working now (was not before). Seems like some black art. Wasn’t there something like “It just works” ? Only: HandOff from Mac to iOS devices is still not working. No idea why. Gerriet. > > On Thu, Oct 13, 2016 at 7:40 AM, Gerriet M. Based on my frequent review of Apple Support Communities, a large number of Mac users have a wide variety of wildly inconsistent successes and failures with all of these new continuity features. To me, this suggests that a basic foundation for these technologies, such as Bluetooth, is dependent on some hardware element whose performance level differs randomly in critical respects between machines, causing everybody's experience to differ based on their own individual hardware. That doesn't bode well for a software fix. -- Bill Cheeseman - wjcheese...@comcast.net ___ Cocoa-dev mailing list (Cocoa-dev@lists.apple.com) Please do not post admin requests or moderator comments to the list. Re: HandOff Problems
I don’t have any answers, but please keep us posted. Sierra is the first macOS upgrade that proved to be a complete disappointment to me, because the interesting new features are based on Handoff, which worked for me in Yosemite and El Cap, but now doesn’t work at all. Looks like Handoff is joining AirDrop and Siri as features that would be incredible if they worked… On Thu, Oct 13, 2016 at 7:40 AM, Gerriet M. HandOff Problems
I have two apps for macOS 12 and iOS 10 which should do HandOff. HandOff works ok between iOS devices. It once worked from any iOS device to Mac. (Never worked from Mac to an iOS device). Until recently it worked from iPad to Mac (but not from iPhone to Mac). Then I rebooted the Mac, and now even from iPad to Mac does no longer work. How can I debug this?
