> The menu options for "Run Main Project" and "Debug Main Project" are disabled
> for Spring Boot applications. See attached screen recording (note also that
> the menu does not update automatically).
>
> *Steps to reproduce:*
> 1) Generate a demo Spring Boot Gradle project here:
> [https://start.spring.io/]
> 2) Open Project in Netbeans. Menu items are disabled.
>
> *Workarounds:*
> 1) Use the "bootRun" task as found in the Navigator panel.
> or 2) Modify build.gradle to add in the application plugin and mainClassName
> variable. This causes NetBeans to add a "run" task and enables the menu.

That's strange. I can't fully reproduce that.

NetBeans Way is to open the source file if it can or in other cases it opens
the generated "assembly" version of the file if there is just the class file
what is known.

Later on you can click on the source file and click on Select in Projects, that
is the point when the open the project dialog appears, if the project
containing the source is not open.

What I see is, if I open a class from a projects which were not open
previously, I get the assembly. if I open the container project then close it,
I get the right source code and can open a project.

[jira] [Created] (NETBEANS-2622) gradle project seams always taken the default JDK

2019-05-31 Thread JIRA
Andreas Eberhöfer created NETBEANS-2622:
---

 Summary: gradle project seams always taken the default JDK
 Key: NETBEANS-2622
 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/NETBEANS-2622
 Project: NetBeans
  Issue Type: Bug
  Components: gradle
Affects Versions: 11.0
Reporter: Andreas Eberhöfer

Hi,
I start netbeans with JDK 10, set in the `etc/netbeans.conf` the jdkhome path.
Now I create a new gradle project and set in the `build.gradle`

```
sourceCompatibility = 11
targetCompatibility = 11
```

In my code I use a JDK 11 API like

```
Path p = Path.of(".");
```
This won't compile.

I added a JDK 11 to netbeans and change under `Properies->Build->Compile->Java
Platform` to JDK 11. It still does not compile.
After a restart, it still does not compile.

 I changed the jdkhome in `etc/netbeans.conf` to the JDK 11. After a restart it
compiles.
Not a big deal, but maybe you should have a look at it. To me it seams like
gradle project always takes the default JDK.

Thanks everyone for your enthusiasm and sorry for the late response. I've been
super swamped with a combination of conferences and holidays.

As I said in the first comment, I would take care of it. It was never as easy
as just swapping the images but as you've discovered this issue needs input
from other teams at Gradle like approval to modify the image and the license
issue which I can handle.

It may take me some time, but I will get it done.
