The FindBugs plugin has given problems since NetBeans 11.3. There are two issues: the FindBugs plugin can't be accessed, but even if it could, it won't work with releases > JDK 8. See https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/NETBEANS-576 In any case, FindBugs is dead, and has been superseded by SpotBugs. [jira] [Created] (NETBEANS-4049) UnsupportedClassVersionError when running JDK14 code with --enable-preview
Rick Hegarty created NETBEANS-4049: -- Summary: UnsupportedClassVersionError when running JDK14 code with --enable-preview Key: NETBEANS-4049 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/NETBEANS-4049 Project: NetBeans Issue Type: Bug Components: platform - Execution, platform - Options&Settings Affects Versions: 11.3 Environment: Product Version: Apache NetBeans IDE 11.3 Java: 14; OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM 14+36-1461 Runtime: OpenJDK Runtime Environment 14+36-1461 System: Windows 10 version 10.0 running on amd64; Cp1252; en_US (nb) User directory: C:\Users\johndoe\AppData\Roaming\NetBeans\11.3 Cache directory: C:\Users\johndoe\AppData\Local\NetBeans\Cache\11.3 Reporter: Rick Hegarty Attachments: nb113enablePreview.png I have installed NB 11.3 on Windows 10, with JDK 14 as its only Java platform. I created a simple _Java with Ant_ project, and wrote code using "arrow case" labels in a switch block: {code:java} static boolean isModifiable(char c) { boolean canModify = switch (c) { case 'ñ', 'Ñ' -> false; default -> true; }; return canModify; } {code} NetBeans detected that this was a JEP 354 preview feature, and set *--enable-preview* for compilation (_Properties > Build > Compiling > Additional Compiler Options_) and execution (_Properties > Run > VM Options_). The code compiled with no problems, but running it (_Run > Run Project_) resulted in this error: {code:java} run: Error: LinkageError occurred while loading main class com.Diacritics java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: com/Diacritics (class file version 57.65535) was compiled with preview features that are unsupported. This version of the Java Runtime only recognizes preview features for class file version 58.65535 C:\Users\johndoe\AppData\Local\NetBeans\Cache\11.3\executor-snippets\run.xml:111: The following error occurred while executing this line: C:\Users\johndoe\AppData\Local\NetBeans\Cache\11.3\executor-snippets\run.xml:68: Java returned: 1 BUILD FAILED (total time: 0 seconds) {code} When I build the project the message is logged {code:java} To run this application from the command line without Ant, try: java -jar "D:\NB113\Diacritics\dist\Diacritics.jar"{code} If I run from the command line with JDK 14 on the *PATH*, using what NetBeans proposes (i.e. *java -jar "D:\NB113\Diacritics\dist\Diacritics.jar"*) I also get the linkage error described above. However, when I added the *--enable-preview* option to the command line call it works fine, as shown in this screen shot: !nb113enablePreview.png! This suggests that when running the project within NetBeans the _VM Option_ *--enable-preview* is being ignored. There is no issue when creating a Java application using _Java with Maven_ that contains the same code. This is only an issue for _Java with Ant_ projects. -- This message was sent by Atlassian Jira (v8.3.4#803005) - To unsubscribe, e-mail: commits-unsubscr...@netbeans.apache.org For additional commands, e-mail: commits-h...@netbeans.apache.org For further information about the NetBeans mailing lists, visit: https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/NETBEANS/Mailing+lists

[jira] [Updated] (NETBEANS-445) Many missing values for code completion of the CSS display property
[ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/NETBEANS-445?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:all-tabpanel ] Rick Hegarty updated NETBEANS-445: -- Affects Version/s: 8.2 Priority: Major (was: Minor) Description: Code completion offers many options for the value of the CSS *display* property when editing a CSS file (see the attached screen shot), but there are still many possible values that are not supplied. Based on the information provided in "CSS Display Module Level 3" ([https://www.w3.org/TR/css-display-3]) the following options should be added to code completion for the *display* property in NetBeans: *flow* *flow-root* *flex* *grid* *subgrid* *ruby-base-container* *ruby-text-container* *contents* *inline-flex* *inline-grid* **+Updated on 6/27/18:+ [1] The problem with autocomplete for CSS is not confined to missing values for the *display* property. For example, no _grid-..._ properties (e.g. *grid-column-start*) are suggested, nor is *row-gap*. The list of valid CSS properties and values used by autocomplete needs to be updated. [2] If a CSS property is not suggested during auto-completion then its valid use in CSS code will be incorrectly reported as an error (e.g. _"Unknown property grid-column-gap"_). [3] A serious side effect of the previous issue is that genuine errors in CSS code may be much harder to identify because they are mixed in with bogus errors. Since this issue is more extensive and serious than the initial report above I have raised the priority to _Major_, and also updated the affected versions to include 8.2. was: Code completion offers many options for the value of the CSS *display* property when editing a CSS file (see the attached screen shot), but there are still many possible values that are not supplied. Does not exist.* See attached screenshot *installGlassfish2.png* [4] The target folder does not get created. Also, if an empty target folder is pre-created the same error occurs, and the target folder remains empty. [5] This error occurs with both NB 8.2 and NB 9.0 RC1. [6] Priority is minor since the simple workaround is to download Glassfish first outside of NetBeans, and then select that downloaded folder within the *Add Server* wizard. [jira] [Created] (NETBEANS-737) Unable to update plugins using Build 416
Rick Hegarty created NETBEANS-737: - Summary: Unable to update plugins using Build 416 Key: NETBEANS-737 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/NETBEANS-737 Project: NetBeans Issue Type: Bug Components: platform - Plugin Manager Affects Versions: 9.0 Environment: Product Version: Apache NetBeans IDE Dev (Build incubator-netbeans-linux-416-on-20180426) Updates: Updates available Java: 1.8.0_172-ea; Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM 25.172-b03 Runtime: Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment 1.8.0_172-ea-b03 System: Windows 10 version 10.0 running on amd64; Cp1252; en_US (nb) User directory: C:\Users\johndoe\AppData\Roaming\NetBeans\dev Cache directory: C:\Users\johndoe\AppData\Local\NetBeans\Cache\dev Reporter: Rick Hegarty Fix For: 9.0 Attachments: Installer1.png, Installer2.png, Installer3.png - I deleted the *dev* user directory and *dev* cache directory for NetBeans. - I downloaded and installed Build #416 on Windows 10. - I selected *Help > Check for Updates*. The installer very briefly displayed a screen stating that _"the following plugins will be updated"_... _Docker UI [1.1.4 -> 1.1.4]_ _IDE Platform [1.34 -> 1.34]_ _Local Tasks [1.26 -> 1.26]_ Note that both version numbers are the same in all three cases. See the attached screen shot *installer1.png*. - Then a second screen replaces that almost immediately, stating _Some plugins require Java Source Base to be installed_. However, the only enabled button is *Cancel*. See the attached screen shot *installer2.png*. - After clicking *Cancel* I am immediately prompted to _Click here to make you IDE up to date_. See the attached screen shot *installer3.png*. If I click the link in the balloon then the same scenario as described above is repeated, and I cannot update anything. - I also face the same problem if I alternative GUI navigation to attempt to do the updates: [1] *Help -> About* then click the *Updates available* link. [2]*Tools -> Plugins -> Updates -> Check for Updates* Note that I have downloaded many other builds (most recently #398) and not encountered this problem. I have assigned this issue *Major* priority since I can't apply updates, but please downgrade if appropriate. -- This message was sent by Atlassian JIRA (v7.6.3#76005) - To unsubscribe, e-mail: commits-unsubscr...@netbeans.apache.org For additional commands, e-mail: commits-h...@netbeans.apache.org For further information about the NetBeans mailing lists, visit: https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/NETBEANS/Mailing+lists
