Re: [Shr-Devel] Palm Pre 2
To FSO guys on the pre, I will try to install the demo image in the next few days. But I have one question first : in the step 2. when do we restore back /sbin/init.old ? Plus, I think this page (installing fso on the pre) really needs a lite paragraph about howto revert the webos boot. because right now I am not sure of what to do. morphis there is no fso2-demo-image-palmpre.ext3 in your repo as said in the howto. Thnaks CU Sylvain. ps: I have my "fix" internet connection back ( a bit poor but...) so I am on irc if needed. 2010/11/22 Sylvain Paré > Hi > > >> So now that you had time to play with it, I'd like to know if it cas >> easily replace an N900 ? >> > > > Firstly I don't own an N900. > > In particular: >> - is there a merged addressbook (with phone + gtalk + facebook + skype + >> etc.) ? >> > > yep webos merge all account setted for : > Contacts (tried with gmail adresse) > Calendar (tried with gmail adresse) > Todo list (if there are other providers for this knid of service...? don't > know) > Note ( ") > Phone (? did not tried) > Messaging (it merges sms/mms/gtalk and other IM) > > - what's the IM/phone backend ? >> > > don't know. or don't understand the question so here is a list of proposed > type of account to set: > AIM > mail account > facebook > google > linkedin > microsoft exchange > photobucket > yahoo! > youtube > search for other (app catalog) > > >> - how many good Free apps are there in the app store ? >> > > not that much.. [QtMoko] Using dutch as input language for predictive keyboard
Hi, I recently configured qtmoko to use the predictive keyboard (smartkeyboard) as standard keyboard. I also enabled prediction. It works very nice and fast for typing. If you use English that is. So I wonder if anyone knows how to change the imput language to dutch? I have a Dutch word list i used once on SHR. I took a quick look at the source to get some clue where to put this file. That way i found out the input language can be changed at the "language" app found in the settings menu. But i don't know how to add a new language to this list. kind regards, toams ___ Openmoko community mailing list community@lists.openmoko.org http://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/community

It resuses the GPS antenna module. But you can still connect an external GPS antenna (@ca. 5 EUR - must have MMCX cable and 3V/15mA). The bare board has: * CPU, RAM, Flash, SD card * GPS * USB * WLAN, Bluetooth * headset jack * accelerometer Most likely you will reuse the display... GSM/GPRS should simply stay disabled since you don't have an antenna connection. But you could even add some through the antenna connector/switch. The GTA02 "module" runs without battery if powered through USB. Running it with a battery is a little complex since the batters spring contacts push away the battery which is only hold by the plastic parts. > The idea of the server is nice, (mine is a netbook motherboard nailed on > the wall!), but i have to add a ethernet dongle...Ho , I can make a > fully wireless server (no network wire, no power wire !) ;-) Some more that come immeditately to my mind: * GSM network monitor * WLAN based server (harddisk on Y-cable on USB port) * GPS tracker that can be read through WLAN * wireless bluetooth headset adapter * WLAN/VOIP headset adapter * shaking gesture based wireless keyboard/mouse Hope this helps to find even more ideas! ___ Openmoko community mailing list community@lists.openmoko.org http://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/community
Re: GTA04 : which new life for GTA02 motheboards ?
i don't know about GTA04 GPS system, i'm not well informed about it. >(mine is a netbook motherboard nailed on >the wall!) epic win :P however, ethernet over usb is not a great idea: if you don't find an adapter with external power, your battery will hardly resist for more than an hour xD on the other hand, if you use wireless you can plug the AC adapter on the usb port. ___ Openmoko community mailing list community@lists.openmoko.org http://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/community

You could make a little and low-power server wtih it, or a gps antenna for the netbook/notebook, or, also, you could make a combo with arduino using her antennas and accelerometers for some projects... ___ Openmoko community mailing list community@lists.openmoko.org http://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/community
GTA04 : which new life for GTA02 motheboards ?
Hi, The idea to "upgrade" Gta02 with a GTA04 motherboard is excellent*, my question (kind of a poll), is "what will we do with our old motherboards ?". As it is a little terminal, it can be used for a lot of stuff/projects, and I'd like to know if you have ideas ?
