SIM contacts are stored on a SIM card, so writing NAND does not delete
them. The same applies to messages. If you are paranoid, remove SIM card
 from FR before flashing.

I think some kind of information about the SMS are saved to:

/home/root/Applications/qtopiamail/
/home/root/Settings/Trolltech/qtmail.conf
/home/root/Settings/Trolltech/qtopiamail.conf
/home/root/Settings/Trolltech/qpe.conf

But I'm not entirely sure. Regards.

Rashid initially mentioned, he copied contents of /home and /opt. Radek
also said to copy:
Most likely /home/root/Applications/qtopiamail
and /home/root/Application/Qtopia. But i can't guarantee it..., but I
suppose it is already copied with all /home structure.

Re: Looking for a GPS only distribution for Freerunner

Distributions are made of packages, why not just take an existing
distribution and only install the packages you want? Starting a new
distribution is a lot of work.

Do you know such a project? Someone started similar project? Do you
have any suggestion to start something like this?

I'd just take some distribution that you know and configure it to meet
your needs. You probably want to think about power management a bit,
perhaps add some logic that will automatically shutdown freerunner if
battery energy goes below 20% to make sure that you'll never completely
 drain the battery.

Yes, I was exactly thinking about that: reusing an existing
distribution as base and configuring it for the need. I do not plan to
create a new distribution.

So, I'm looking for someone already working on a project like this:
selecting and configuring the right tools for converting a FreeRunner
in a raw in-car GPS.

Why not making a GPS-only image, for instance in the SHR distribution.
it's just a mather of selecting the right packages to put in the images and
waiting(a very very long time) for it to compile.

Denis.

Thanks! It's really nice to have all the schematics for your phone
readily available!

The camera section was a welcome addition.

BTW maybe you could make a cross section picture that shows exactly
where the glue is and where the pads are beneath the screen when you
take the gta02 apart. I think that would have made it easier for me to
understand where I should have applied pressure while removing the screen.
