I'm stupid, of course you can use 2 layouts. Just use a function key, like
fn to switch between them.

Example:

(russian letter)
key a b c d
russian sth sth

(english letter)
key v w x y
normal sth sth

(switch)
key j k l m
normal sth $is_russian
russian sth $is_russian

You need it for the overwhelming majority of phones. A7 don't need a
buzz fix at all and Freerunner models (A6) that were produced after some
date (I think October 2008) already have a 2k2 resistor so you only need
to add the cap. These models usually have a mic that only has three
holes and not four.

For all other A6/A5/older models you will need to replace the 0Ohm
resistor with a 2k2.

Is it possible to implement in later releases the possibility of

It's in openembedded(the build system used by the SHR distro)...but not
very usable(with newer SHR and newer wesnoth you have to play in 640x480
instead of 480x640 and that may be the cause of the poor performance,or
maybe it's something else...because the older wesnoth with older SHR
didn't have this problem...)
In another hand someone ported wesnoth to the iphone and gave back all
the sources...including...the theme he made...
so maybe we should try to import the theme
The theme was made for 480x320...we have 480x640 wich is much better
so if you want wesnoth just build it,or ask SHR people to include it in
their feed...
But beware...some people think that openembedded is complicated...(try
before buying...)

I am very interested in this, too.. I've wanted to get my FR to connect to my
bmw car system ever since I got it.. and it always played up, didn't want to
talk to the car at all.. FR was happy with the BT connect but my radio was
still asking for data (IIRC, the error codes that the FR BT stack gave was that
it got a PBAP request which it just simply dropped due to lack of support).. So
a connection never ever got properly established.. :(

I'll be back home and able to test things on the 3rd of January..

Cheers,

If i understood correctly, you have to power-off freerunner. Now
press and hold AUX and press POWER. The uboot menu in NOR
will show and you can use dfu-util to flash QtMoko jffs2 and kernel.

sounds like a solution.
Is the resistor always needed? The documents do not state this

> Hi guys,

Hi Rashid,

Do you already own a Freerunner? I'm guessing not. Unfortunately I
would advise that the available software is not yet stable enough for
this kind of serious work. It's still quite common for people to
sometimes miss calls, miss messages, experience system hangs and have
to pull out the battery.

(It's also completely fantastic, and getting ever better and more
useful, and can do things that no other phone can do... But the
reliability isn't there yet.)

Nevertheless, here's an answer to the question that I know about.

> 4. Mobile internet over GSM is working I think, or?

Yes, GPRS. (i.e. not 3G, and so not very fast) My experience is that
the connection sometimes drops for no reason, though; and when that
happens the software is sometimes confused and can't reactivate it.

  Neil

Encryption, Cameras and Games

2009-12-25 Thread Rashid
Hi guys,

I'm going to need a very safe smart phone for using it for investigative
reporting.

So I have some questions before I'm going to get a Freerunner:

1. Can you encrypt a LVM with luks like in Ubuntu?

2. Can you encrypt the whole phone / file-system? If not will it be
possible in futere and is someone working on it?

3. Can you plug in an USB Cam (Like a Webcam) and use it to film
(extremly important) on the crypted LVM?

4. Mobile internet over GSM is working I think, or?

5. Can you send the videostream / the videofile while you are recording
via SSH (or something similar safe) to a server? The idea is, that when
your phone is destroyed while filming you have at least the video until
this moment.

6. With Hackable:1 Rev5 Chuck you can easily turn down GSM. Your
location can't be found when its turned of, or? Can you force the GSM to
connect to a random, far away GSM tower/connection-station to confuse
the observers about your position?

We have serious problems in Europe with the freedom of the press so it
would be great to use the freerunner with openmoko for helping freedom
of the press.

And because I have to travel much and it takes long times:

Will there be a Battle for Wesnoth, SNES/NES/GB Emulator and a Heroes of
Might and Magic 2/3 port for open moko?

Thank you for reading all these questions.
