Re: GTA02: NavBoard V3 causing GPS interference

Yesterday I was able to confirm that the installation of the Golden Delicious
NavBoard V3 very seriously degrades the performance of GPS when using the
built-in GPS antenna. Getting a 3D fix is taking over 20 minutes on average
using the built-in GPS antenna. When using an external GPS antenna, the
issue goes away and an unaided GPS cold start can be achieved in about 41 to
 44 seconds.

Or can it be that the U.FL cable for the GPS antenna module is broken?

I know that it is a weak point of the Openmoko antenna module design, but it
can be repaired by cutting off the broken end and resoldering. If the cable
becomes too short, get a precrimped 100mm U.FL - U.FL jumper cable and cut in
the middle.

In that case it could be that after mounting everyting, the LNA of the GPS
Module is no longer working and you loose 20dB of
signal amplification.

You can easily check by measuring the DC-voltage at the GPS Module. Or the
resistance at the U-FL end of the cable (should read ~50 Ohm).

 Hi,

 Have you watched this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cpWHJDLsqTU
How do they get this speed on the screen? Do they use something else
than X11? There is also not mutch technical background information at

It could use OpenGL (can be combined with X11 - GLX extension [1]) and
then it is no magic any more (any good GPU does such a job). Unfortunately
we have no FREE OpenGL driver for our GPU.

Re: qtmoko calendar

2013-02-11 Thread robin
Hi Adrien,

thanks for this very handy tool. It works almost perfectly with my ics calender
I export from orgmode. there is just one minor thing: it fails if I have a date
on -07-31 which as far as I checked my calendar does actually exist:

for the error I found the following bug [1] on the internet with the solution to
set the database datestyle like:

ALTER DATABASE bugzilla SET datestyle = 'iso, dmy';

is this also possible with the qtopia database?

this is the output I get

Hi,
i have packages and even tarbal of v52 for Freerunner. Unfortunately with it
the modem does not register to network. It can be workarounded from console,
but real solution is needed so that it's usable. I will do release once it's

Re: Qtmoko v52-armhf : Issue to resume

  Hello!

I've noticed two issues when I resume my phone from suspend :

* Sometimes my screen kept black and I'm only able to shut down my
phone with power button (I didn't have my computer at these
times, so I don't know if I was able to connect with ssh)
* Sometimes the screen display the last qtmoko image with screen
lock, but it's stuck. Eg, now my screen dipslays 2pm (last
suspend I think), but here I'm at 3 pm now. The only one
interaction possible is to press Aux and see the ^@ strings
  displayed.

Hmm i guess we need to reproduce it somehow. Maybe automatic suspend resume
cycles using rtc alarm could reproduce it - but IIRC i tried it and had no
 luck.

I didn't have this issue since some days, but it appeared this morning
again, after this situation :
  * I'v made a call in the train
  * An interruption appeared because the swiss gsm network in trains
is really bad
  * So my correspondant called me back (she was in another train),
but I wasn't able to answer (I'm pretty sure it's because of our
gsm network again, we had same errors using proprietary phones)
  * Finally I've called her again and we were able to finish our
discussion normally.

Furthermore, after each call end, I receive an SMS from my gsm operator
to say me how many credits I've on my SIM card.

That's not really easy to reproduce...

I've straced again qpe process and I've seen same error with (Q)Debus.
So I've stopped qtmoko-gta04 service, then I've restarted dbus service
and started qtmoko-gta04 service again and all works fine.

I didn't think to strace dbus process, so it's not really relevant, but
this workaround seems to work.

I hope to have this bug again to be able to produce more straces.

See you,
Adrien
