GTA02 Screen dissasembly issues..
Trying to remove my broken LCD from GTA02 i run into the following issue: In the manual of GTA04 in page21 it mentions 4 conducting silver pads only glued to the PCB . Unfortunately i think (see attachment photo) i damaged those pads. Could please someona assest the damage. Can i proceed to connect the LCD replacement or i'll have problems? What's the use of those pads? Also in one corner a part of a black coating has gone.:-) Is that bad? alexandros. (ps: i didnt use the blow dryer :-/) (ps2: althought partly my fault i think the manual needs improvement in the LCD removal section .) attachment: gta02-worn-pads.jpg___ Openmoko community mailing list community@lists.openmoko.org http://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/community
Re: GTA02 Screen broken..
I ordered a new LCD from goldelico finaly. But i'm wondering if in the spirit of first PC-era specs could be published so there were more alts, eg: a more low-cost low-res display. (to be frank the LCD costs 58€. The vat, and trasport fees pump up the final value to 80€). alexandros. ___ Openmoko community mailing list community@lists.openmoko.org http://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/community
Re: GTA02 Screen broken..
maybe just the connector got a bit loose? with help of the disassembling guide you should be able to check. I dont know if you've seen the image i sent. That screen could happen from a connector problem? I mean in the screen the tear is ,as i see it, apparent. If that's possible i'd be happy to try. I'm considering to buy an replacement part but i wouldnt mind if i could get a lower resolution with less money. GTA02 Screen broken..
After my baby came into the world chaos is visiting my workroom more frequent and entropy's level is critical :-) Trying to move a mouse's cable created a cascade effect to a dozen of other cables behind my tower including the usb cable connected to my beloved GTA02. You can see the result in the attached pictures. The fall was half a meter. The neo hit ground landing on other cable. The screen didnt hit an object's angle or corner. So my non-technical guess , for what its worth ,is that it must happen from the shock of the impact to its case. There is no fractures on the screen's glass . It seems that the fracture that's visible on the screen is on a layer beneath. The touch screen is functional ,even on the part of the screen that's messed up. alexandros attachment: 2013-05-28-212010.jpg___ Openmoko community mailing list community@lists.openmoko.org http://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/community
