IIRC it worked. Maybe you will need to use Xorg instead of Xfbdev. You
can try uninstall Xfbdev and QX could again ask to install and
configure Xorg for you.

If Xorg is always better, it would be good to remove the choice of
installing Xfbdev (at least for GTA04).

Thanks Neil and Radek,

Ok, I've already tested the Xorg instalation, but it hang at getting a
package. I don't remember wich one, so I've installed xfbdev version.
And it seems to not working.

I'll try next week the Neil tips with xserver-xorg-input-evdev.

I'm trying to run, the compilation works fine, the openambit.org
project on the GTA04, as it can be a solution to retrieve and store
the logs of a Sunnto watches while trecking. If Qx works in Qtmoko!
And connecting the Usb will be the next step.

There might be another problem that xserver-xorg-input-tslib was
removed from debian wheezy, so you must use xserver-xorg-input-evdev
for input. Now i am not sure which one is the GTA04 frinedly one...

Does the QtMoko GTA04 kernel include Nikolaus's patch for dejittering in
the kernel? If it does, it should be fine to use evdev.

Ok, that's not completly feasible so the Qx in Qtmoko for GTA04! Can I
run a Qt application on the Lxde distribution in a backup solution?

No chance to make working Qx under the Gta04. :-(

But I've succeed to re-install the

Unfortunately, no, because the Qt4 application is still probably
expecting to output to an X server, and native QtMoko uses a
different display server. To run directly in QtMoko, at least a
rebuild will be needed, within the QtMoko build environment, and
possibly a little porting work too.

The thread is very interesting, but it seems that's Bob will never

But before winning the Godwin point in this thread, perhaps the best

Crownfunding a meeting between Bob and Nikolaus can be a solution?

I guess I was wrong. It should be 'rootfstype=ext2' and 'fatload mmc 1
0x3200' in the NAND boot menu. But better you crosscheck on your own
 with your device (see below).

Here is how to figure out what may cause the trouble at your site:

To see the differences between the NOR and NAND boot-entries first power
on the FR once with the combination AUX then PWR (NOR-Boot).

Connect the usb-cable with your Desktop-PC and connect to the FR with
 your favorite terminal program [1].

 Type printenv in the terminal.

 Write down (copy/paste ;-) ) the values for menu_1=...

Power down the FR (type neo1973 power-off in the terminal).

Start it again with PWR then AUX to bring the NAND bootloader up.

Connect with your favorite terminal program (i prefer minicom), type
printenv again and compare/adjust the values you wrote down from NOR.

Thanks Marian,

That's right, rootfs is ext2, and in /dev/mmcblk0p2. The mmc load is
fat in u-boot. It boot all right now.

So now I'll boot on NAND, see if it'll freeze or no. I've added the
sleep 2 for microSD and flash (menu_1) !

Thanks a lot for your tips !

 Hi Maelvon,

from a distance I would guess the filesystem on your first partition
(/dev/mmcblk0p1) is vfat and not ext2.

Have a close look at the configure-uboot.sh, check the line with
rootfstype=... from the first entry (after bootcmd=...).

It should read (change it to): rootfstype=vfat

hackable1.org requires a fat partition for the first partition.
Debian on FR in contrast has discontinued booting from fat [1].

As the configure-uboot.sh was written for Debian on FR [2] the script
does not honor vfat boot partitions. See [1] for discussion (follow the
links to the Debian issue tracker and the smartphone-userland ML).

You put me on the right way, I've forgot to change the ext2load mmc

But I've now a :

So with NOR, I've a :
'''
s3c2410_udc:debufs dir creation failed

But Hackable:1 boot, and with NAND in vfat, I've a kernel panic

If I've put a vfat as rootfstype in NAND, what's the difference with the
original NOR u-boot ?

I'm a bit lost :-)

SD boot freeze, hang at boot time, why ?

 HTH,

Thanks Andy and Marian,

I'll try to add the loglevel=8 to the U-Boot, not tested for now.

First I have tested the Marian solution, and I understand now the
difference between the NAND and NOR. NAND can be modified with the
configure-uboot.sh script file. The NOR cannot be modified.

I'm testing Hackable:1. I've installed Debian before Hackable:1, and
modified the NAND menu a few weeks ago but always boot in NOR, so I
don't know if it work with the default configure-uboot.sh and Debian in
NAND.

Testing the Marian solution, I've modified the NAND boot, added the
sleep 2; but on NAND boot it say now :
boot
Failed to mount ext2 filesystem...
** Bad ext2 partition or disk - mmc 1:1 **
Wrong image format for bootm command
ERROR: can't get kernel image!
/boot

I'm using the Hackable:1, so I think it was the problem as it boot
Hackable:1 normally in the NOR (fat+ext2), with allright the freeze
problem for Flash and MicroSD.

I've done a fsck.ext2 -v -y -f /dev/mmcblk0p2, but no changes.

Any clues,

Regards,

Maelvon
