I heard somewhere that there are some SHR-stable images on the way. Have
they been released? If not, what image (lite) would you suggest I pick
up for the time being that works best as an everyday phone (ie the most
recent image)? Also, is there any specific kernel that has the logging
Not my primary phone, but I use it form time to time to surf the
web/play games with Hackable:1 or QtMoko (only distros that connect to
web). Not huge fan of SHR, because the interface does not lend itself
well to a phone (can't even create+type+send an SMS in less than a

Yeah, NeronGPS is in the QtMoko feeds and all you need to install it is
a recent version of QtMoko and an internet connection. It's native to
the Qt framework that QtMoko uses and doesn't need an X server. It has a
slightly different interface from Navit and tango, but it's pretty easy

If you have H:1 I encourage you to try it out and give me feedback.

I understand, I'll work on fixing it. The algorithm itself is unique and
is really just another rendition of a predictive keyboard and could be
built to support any other keyboard layout, if need be.

He's using rev5rc1 of Hackable:1. It's based on 2007.2, but much more
advanced. It's not an FSO-based distro, but the devs say that they'll
convert it to FSO by the time rev6 comes out.

I was thinking about try SHR again, but I don't know which image I
should use.
I heard somewhere that there was a mostly-stable image built in October,
but I can't find it anywhere. I have the unstable from early September,
but I thought that there was something more recent than that.
Thanks,
Would this only work with SHR/QtMoko, etc, or would this also work on
Android? I guess my question is, can this be solved from the kernel, or
is it done through the distribution itself?

HTC recently released the kernel source code to the Hero. Would this be
of any use to use? Would it be possible to get the HTC Sense OS on the
Freerunner? Or, worst case scenario, we could at least get some
information on how HTC modified Android to learn from.

I have personally had many troubles with SHR in the past. For one, I
don't think the Contacts application has ever worked for my SIM card. It
immediately crashes. It might be because it hasn't finished loading all
of the contacts from SIM, but crashing is a poor way of handling this
issue.
SHR is indeed the most-used. I think making a package for the upcoming
H:1 rev5 would be cool, too. Also, I think the Om2009 maintainers all
moved on to SHR anyways.

No, you need something like this

and you can find them basically anywhere. I've accrued about 7+ over the
years, from digital cameras, hubs, cell phones, etc, etc. Even the FR
came with one.

vcards are the most common way of doing something like that and I'm
pretty sure I've used vcards with QTmoko before. Build a vcard from your
