Hello
I have the same problem with my SIM card from Sunrise here in Switzerland. Out
of three different cards, I have one that works and two that do not.
Is their any solution yet to this problem?.

Can you tell me the numbers on the chip side of the SIM?
Not the 20 digit ICCID but the 5 digit SKU followed by a letter and then
the 4 digit Vendor and Version number underneath it.
For example GD cards say

Does that SIM work?
It is a Gemalto SIM and to the best of my knowledge is identical to the
latest cards from Gemalto apart from the rebranding to ATT.
The new ATT branded cards should be marked

So does this mean Cingualr is moving to proprietary SIMS?

Minor update on the cingular/att 3g sim issue:
I tested my device out this evening with a t-mobile prepaid sim (2g),
and I am able to make outgoing calls successfully. Even got the audio
working after some fuss ;)
So anyhow, seems like its definitely due to either the cingular/att
network

No, for Neo GTA01 it's probably a focus on software. Guess they did not
find a better GSM/UMTS module in time.

What fuss in particular? I can play audio with madplay, but have yet
to get phone calls to use the speaker (the dialer connects and picks
up fine...)

On the IRC channel sunkist has confirmed this problem too. nibbler_de said
that the sim card that att makes is definitely a Oberthur CS SIMphonIC 3G
and that it is comparable with 2G phones still. but how come many people who
tried this card all reported that it didn't work? I'm wondering if a

Chalk another one up for CME ERROR due to the cingular/att 'fireball' 3g
sim card..
However, it is interesting to note, that I am getting CME ERROR 13 (sim
failure), rather than CME ERROR 10 (sim not inserted).
Just got my neo, so still trying..

I agree. The neo should work with the largest US provider. I would be more
than happy to mail my sim card to TW or to someplace where someone who knows
more about the technology than me can look at it (as long as I can get it
back lol). It would be nice to see the raw communication (if any)
I have a simple question related to 3G. Why doesn't the neo support
3G? I have had my Cingular 3G phone for a year now and I can't imagine
ever going back to Edge speeds. And sence this phone has a 640x480
screen and powerful processor it is great for the faster speed network.
I would really

Whao, I didn't know that. I assumed it at least had edge. That
totally sucks if it is only has GPRS. What is going on with new phones
these days? Seems like they are going backwards in speeds, i-phone and
now this.
HSDPA support? Why not? Is it licensing issues?

Is there any way to make a 3G sim card work in the device (even if it does
2.5g)?

They basically should work, but the device does only 2G :), no EGPRS ;)

yes, you won't get 3G service, but you'll still be able to use GPRS and
GSM voice or data

Since the Calypso chipset is 2G a 3G SIM will only work if it contains
both the USIM and SIM applications.
I would expect that this is the case for most operators that have both
2G and 3G
