It is still a very legitimate tool. However, what you should do about the
results depends upon why you are checking a domain. Also, failure of a domain
on the abuse and postmaster really mean nothing in terms of anti-spam scanning.

We and our customers using ActiveSync. I have never understood, why also the
Spam-folder will be synchronized and i never found a way to exclude the
spamfolder.
I created some filters to catch the actual viruses. Mostly i trigger for a
file name as the attachment.
So far so good.
