Two very good sites are: www.titantv.com and www.zap2it.com. You join for
free and customize the channel guide of your provider for your favorite and
preferred time of day, number of hours displayed. Titan can have separate
tabs for OTA and for DBS listings as well.
YMMV

Any comments or experiences about installing SP3? It popped up on my
Windows Update. Pros/Cons will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,

Installed using the stand alone installer, worked fine, no problems. Only
issue I've heard is that it is not a good idea to create a slipstreamed xp
installer with sp 3 on a vista box. Other then that...no issues.

My In-laws are getting a popup message from AVG that 7.5 is going
obsolete and they should update to 8.0 (which of course is for pay).
Any reason they can't keep using the free version? Should they
download the latest version of whatever's free? -PJM

Have them upgrade to AVG Free 8.0. AVG puts this warning up every time
they do a major upgrade. The links they provide tend to steer you toward
the pay product but you can find the free version if you dig around a bit.
I upgraded this afternoon.
Is there a version on CD as there was with WinXP SP2?
At the time of SP2, I only had dialup so I ordered the CD. I later
heard that some people who used the downloaded version had problems
that did not occur with the CD version.

Well, it seems I'm going to have to reinstall XP in the wife's laptop,
so I'd like to install SP3 immediately. Is it my imagination or is the
SP3 redist unavailable???

New info about AVG 8.0: It does come with a neat feature which rates
webpages generated by search engines as to their safety rating (doesn't
work with their installed Yahoo toolbar though). Not sure how they come
up with this or how accurate it is, but it does present a certain
comfort level
Paula,
Dim LCD screen has become a common compaint, and there may be a
solution!
I have been repairing laptops recently, and they have a small
board along the boarder of the LCD screen called the 'inverter'.
It can cost as little as $20 in single quantity. According to
I won't have to worry about a recording machine because, I will be
recording them onto my computer, before I transfer them to CD.
When I say recording machine I mean the deck the tape was
originally recorded on, if it was not the same deck you're using
for playback.
