This is an external two drive enclosure, not a tray. Why bother with eSata? Speed...being able to hot swap if you wanted. As far as incompatibilities go, I'm on windows so SATA is fine. You go ahead and hot swap the drive that the OS is running from. I'll watch and try not to bust a gut

esata is for external enclosures, not trays/bays. The only difference is With a drive bay priced at $10 and using old reliable IDE why would anyone get a $150 eSATA and then have to worry about various incompatibilities? Better to KISS. You can get a nice NAT box for less than you quote for

We use el cheapo Genica EIDE drive bays. Like $10 for a male-female combo. But I dunno that I _prefer_ them over any other brands, it's just that now we've got so many it's not like I can test a lot of others. They _do_ have fans. Our biggest problem has always been the nature of the EIDE bus.
