Re: [CGUYS] G5 grace period question
Our G5 repair has resolved. We called Apple Should I buy a lottery ticket tomorrow or what? This is not an unusual story. Apple's excellent customer service will often bend over backwards to treat a customer right. So you should not generalize. You won't win the lottery and there are still PC vendors out there who will screw you at the slightest opportunity. * == QUICK LIST-COMMAND REFERENCE - Put the following commands in == * == the body of an email send 'em to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] == * Join the list: SUBSCRIBE COMPUTERGUYS-L Your Name * Too much mail? Thanks for confirming our experience Tom. We thought we couldn't be happier with our computer experience before.. now we're closer to *knowing* we couldn't be happier with our computers. Might even end up putting onto the car, one of the many white Apple stickers we have laying around here. I didn't buy a lottery ticket btw.. figuring we pay enough taxes. Buy a lottery ticket, run for congress, and go to the OTB store in the morning. Stewart At 10:15 PM 11/14/2007, you wrote: I have a pretty amazing story to tell. Our G5 repair has resolved. We called Apple. After several transfers back and forth with much holding in between we eneded up with Samantha in the RPI (Manila, specifically). AppleCare was irrelevant (expired two weeks ago). But, maybe thanks to the 'logic board failure' being a known issue or that we've been such regular Apple juice drinkers they agreed to fix it. I dropped the machine at our local Apple Store Sunday and went to pick it up today. Checking me out they rang up something near $700! I didn't have the case number from Samantha handy and was surprised they didn't keep the number from when I checked the machine in with the store. So later we went back, original order paperwork carbons in hand. For some odd reason they said had to do with securing a 90-day warranty on the part, they gave us a receipt for one cent for the logic board and one cent for the labor. They didn't actually charge us the two cents so it truly must have been an odd systems requirement. Then we walked out. Our 3+ year old 1.6GHz G5 with a new logic board is running in the other room. Four weeks out of Applecare and an iBook HD failure resulted in plenty of free Genius help diagnosing, and an I'm sorry it will be $300 to replace.
