One more thing. Be sure to take an assortment of adapters. Plug types are
not standard in the UK. I recall staying in a room once in Cambridge that
had 5 different, incompatible plug types scattered in various locations.

You can pick up an adapter kit at the Boots drug store when you arrive
at the airport in the UK or in town at any "discount" place [HAHAHA,
there's no discount places in the UK, try Sainsbury or Tesco or one of
the little shops in hypermarkets].

You can get that at C
Your HP charger will accept European standard 220v
(&50hz), as will most laptop (& mobil phone) chargers.
Adaptors are carried in profusion by Radio Shack.

The wire-sizing is related to the current draw of the appliance in which
it is plugged, not necessarily the voltage source of the electricity.
You'll still need the adapter though. Others who have had more practical
experience will also comment.
