I plan to write the further work section of my thesis within the next
couple of days. If anyone have any comments on my todo list, I would
really appreciate to hear them.

In the FAQ [1] we say to uncomment an allowedScheme element in
apps/continuum/conf/application.xml to allow use of the file://
protocol.
However, the element doesn't exist there, and instead can only be
found down in
apps/continuum/webapp/WEB-INF/classes/META-INF/plexus/application.xml
.
What
I don't think it's possible to put it anywhere other than the webapp
META-INF location at this point, without changing the way it's
configured.

On the Deploying page on the wiki [1] there's a comment that You can
also copy and edit this file
That should be the webapp/continuum/conf/application.xml file that
you can copy, not the one from META-INF. Unfortunately, because of
the way the webapp integration currently works those files are split.
Though, having said that, it may actually work as an override, so
it's worth a try -
