Hi there. For oil I usually measure over the sink. FIrst I put hot water in the measuring spoon then it is easier to feel. Other liquids sometimes if it is a big cup or thermus you can hear the liquid get to the top. THe pitch changes as it gets higher. Hope this helps. Lovette On Jun 25,
