CCP4 nightly builds also include coot 0.8.1 now.
It's a bigger bundle, containing also free-only-for-academics programs.
Linux version should work on all Linux distros from the times of RHEL4 to today:

I recently installed coot 0.8.1-pre (revision 5441). I can't validate
structures (for example: Ramachandran Plot, Geometry analysis, peptide omega
analysis and so on). For your information, I'm using Ubuntu 14.04 LTS. I am
hoping for help.
