We don't allow for people to bring their own desks but we actually strongly encourage people to bring their own chairs and personalize the space. Once in a while somebody might go overboard - that's a good opportunity to talk to them about it - but I put this into the category of finite possible

We (Workantile) don't insure members' property, only the property that belongs to the company. We also carry liability insurance so in case someone is injured we are insured. Liability insurance is required by our lease. Your members probably have insurance of their own covering their property.
