Re: [Coworking] Recommended TED Talks - Your Favorites!

I just watched this one and found it thought provoking:

Also, of course, the classics from Elizabeth Gilbert (both of them) and
Simon Sinek are evergreen to me.

[Coworking] Re: Coworking payments for reservations & cancellation policies

2016-12-13 Thread Doug Maschoff
Hi Lauren, this is something we actually discussed with a lot of coworking
space owners/managers when we were building out the booking functionality
of www.meshworkapp.com. How we handle it is we charge the member/non-member
at the time of booking, however give a 100% refund if they cancel the
booking with 48 hours notice and a 50% refund when they cancel it with 24
hours notice. I've also spoken with some spaces that always require a 48
hour notice as well as others that only require a 24 hour notice. We were
shooting for something that seemed reasonable without getting
overcomplicated, however I'm sure there are lots of different ways to do
it. Hope that helps.

Re: [Coworking] Coworking payments for reservations & cancellation policies

2016-12-13 Thread Jerome Chang
Hi. We simply tell everyone that "payment confirms a booking", and that
goes for any monthly or walk-in plans.
We allow cancellations 2 weeks in advance, 50% refund if 1 week, and none
before that. That said, we're exploring shorter notifications, and do have
exceptions to the rule when, for example, someone books just 6 days ahead.

Re: [Coworking] Google Chromecast

2016-12-13 Thread Melissa T. Goldman
That would be excellent if you could share the Chromecast "member screen"
tool! Thank you, Alex.

What I'd love to see is a version that could rotate the display output 90
degrees (so I can mount a vertical TV). I've only heard of that
functionality on expensive boxes.

[Coworking] Coworking payments for reservations & cancellation policies

2016-12-13 Thread Lauren McDaniel
Hi everyone,

I'm wondering if there are general best practices for when to require
payments for space reservations (especially if they are booking a space for
the entire day).

Also, similarly, what are your cancellation policies? Do you keep a certain
percentage at different time periods leading to the scheduled booking?

Thanks in advance for any advice you can provide!

[Coworking] Re: Membership Terms - Legal Clause about 24/7 Access

Hi there!

Since this is actively involving our product getkisi.com with 24/7 access,
we've went ahead and summarized what we found people doing in a blogpost:

Let me know if you have any feedback!

[Coworking] Recommended TED Talks - Your Favorites!

2016-12-13 Thread Lauren McDaniel
Hi again,

I'm putting together a calendar of TED Talks in 2017 for our weekly TED
Talk Tuesdays that stream in the space (they are open to the public over
lunchtime). I generated a list of talks in the second half of 2016, and I'm
looking for recommendations on the best talks you've seen that have a
business / entrepreneurship or science / tech bent, which seem to be of
most interest to our community.

Thanks!
