I also found a pure CSS solution by one of our very
own guru's here on the list:
http://www.gunlaug.no/tos/moa_11f.html after doing a
Google search. You do have to use rules to target
older versions of IE but it's all CSS. I think I will
give that a try before resorting to Javascript. But
thanks
i used this recently and it works well:

I am having great difficulty centering a floated element ( e.g. an image w/
dropshadow ).
The primary reason is the dimensions of this floated element are variable (
a maximum of 400px height and/or 400px width )
Is there is a css way to center a variable width element which contains a
float

See the list wiki (uri below) for a list. Most are out of date by the
time they hit the street. Online resources tend to be more helpful (for
me). Again,
this one is excellent: http://meyerweb.com/eric/books/css-tdg/
very clear and a good place to start.

IE-expressions (that I use) are minimal script in stylesheet, which
means if there's no script-support in IE7 and older
Hi Jonathan.
I have found the following book to be excellent and I use it as a 'bible': CSS
The Missing Manual by David Sawyer McFarland. Pogue Press/O'Reilly. ISBN-10:
0-596-52687-3 and ISBN-13: 978-0-596-52687-0
Also Eric A Meyer's CSS Pocket Reference is a helpful, easy to carry volume.
Designing with Web Standards - Zeldman
Bulletproof Web Design - Cederholm
Web Standards Solutions - Cederholm
Eric Meyer's books are pretty good too.

So far I've tested this only on Windows XP Pro.
It looks to me like Firefox does not observe padding-left:6px;
padding-right:6px; to make a submit button wider than normal, nor does
Safari. IE7 applies padding to the left and right of the button text
correctly. I guess I can use

I'm having trouble getting my web page to view accurately across the
