I had checked before sending this last night, to make sure it hadn't been
posted here before, so I'm not sure what this is talking about. Does
anyone know what this means? Has it happened to anyone else?
I know I've seen double-postings of the same messages before... Is
this an automatic thing? Anyway, my original message is below this,
and is still an important read!

Two articles here (links included),
the first is mentioned (and was the source of) the second. Read carefully
and absorb their meaning fully. What they are saying is that ALL
our lives are now on the line.
From the LA Times:
The Secret War
Frustrated by intelligence failures, the Defense Department is
dramatically expanding its 'black world' of covert operations
By William M. Arkin
William M. Arkin is a military affairs analyst who writes regularly
for Opinion. E-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
October 27 2002
SOUTH POMFRET, Vt. -- In what may well be the largest expansion of covert
action by the armed forces since the Vietnam era, the Bush administration
has turned to what the Pentagon calls the "black world" to press the war
on terrorism and weapons of mass destruction.
The Defense Department is building up an elite secret army with resources
stretching across the full spectrum of covert capabilities. New organizations
are being created. The missions of existing units are being revised. Spy
planes and ships are being assigned new missions in anti-terror and monitoring
the "axis of evil."
The increasingly dominant role of the military, Pentagon officials say,
reflects frustration at the highest levels of government with the performance
of the intelligence community, law enforcement agencies and much of the
burgeoning homeland security apparatus. It also reflects the desire of
Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld to gain greater overall control of
the war on terror.
Insulated from outside pressures, armed with matchless weapons and technology,
trained to operate below the shadow line, the Pentagon's black world of
classified operations holds out the hope of swift, decisive action in a
struggle against terrorism that often looks more like a family feud than
a war.
Coupled with the enormous effort being made throughout the government
to improve and link information networks and databases, covert anti-terror
operations promise to put better information in the hands of streamlined
military teams that can identify, monitor and neutralize terrorist threats.
"Prevention and preemption are ... the only defense against terrorism,"
Rumsfeld said in May. "Our task is to find and destroy the enemy before
they strike us."
The new apparatus for covert operations and the growing government secrecy
associated with the war on terrorism reflect the way the Bush administration's
most senior officials see today's world:
First, they see fighting terrorism and its challenge to U.S. interests
and values as the 21st century equivalent of the Cold War crusade against
communism. Second, they believe the magnitude of the threat requires, and
thus justifies, aggressive new "off-the-books" tactics.
In their understandable frustration over continued atrocities such as
the recent Bali attack, however, U.S. officials might keep two points in
mind.
Though covert action can bring quick results, because it is isolated
from the normal review processes it can just as quickly bring mistakes
and larger problems. Also, the Pentagon is every bit as capable as the
civilian side of the government when it comes to creating organization
charts and bureaucracy that stifle creative thinking and timely action.
The development of the Pentagon's covert counter-terror capability has
its roots in the 1979 Iran hostage crisis. The Army created a highly compartmentalized
organization that could collect clandestine intelligence independent of
the rest of the U.S.

Towers at World Trade hold federal officesrecently Govenor of
New York moved from the Tower now I wonder why?

As Congressman Kascich did here - when Oklahoma blew - that guy moved
his office out of FEderal Buildigs to Dublin, quietly.he was pal to
 Gary Condit.

I wonder who did not show up for work today? At least in New York they
know their Govenor is safe - World Trade Offices holds many federal and
state offices so why did Pataky move out?

Maybe same reason Kascich moved out.

Pentagon - the symbol of security for the USA...

The last guy who rammed a building in Washington with a plane they said
was a truck driver.so the big meeting for which they prepared,
making Washington the target and now a war zone as well as New York City
 no doubt will be closed.

Keep thinking about Govenor Pataky moving out of World Trade Offices and
why? Like Oklahoma - FBI and BATF stayed home and left the babies in
 the tower?

How, When, Where Sharks Attack

Worldwide there are probably 70-100 shark attacks annually resulting in
about 5-15 deaths.

We say probably because not all shark attacks are reported; our
information from Third World countries is especially poor, and in other
areas efforts are sometimes made to keep attack quiet for fear of bad
publicity.

Historically the death rate was much higher than today, but the advent
of readily available emergency services and improved medical treatment
has greatly reduced the chances of mortality. Actual numbers of shark
attacks certainly are going up each year because of increasing numbers
of bathers in the water, but there is no indication that there is any
change in the per capita rate of attack.

Most attacks occur in nearshore waters, typically inshore of a sandbar
or between sandbars where sharks feed and can become trapped at low
tide.

Areas with steep dropoffs are also likely attack sites. Sharks
congregate there because their natural food items also congregate in
these areas.

BUSH RENAMES, EXPANDS PLAN COLOMBIA - ADDS $550 MILLION IN PREPARATION FOR
WAR - EQUADOR MOVES 10,000 TROOPS TO COLOMBIAN BORDER

LINKAGE BETWEEN DRUG WAR AND WALL STREET HEALTH BECOMING TRANSPARENT

FTW, March 15, 2001 - Less than a week after diplomats from 25 Latin
American and European countries, as well as Japan, defied US interests by
meeting jointly with representatives of rebel groups at the invitation of
the Colombian government, and just days after two sharp losses caused the
Dow to plunge more than 700 points, President Bush added $550 million to
Plan Colombia and acknowledged its regional dimensions by re-christening it
"The Andean Initiative." Signaling the opening moves in a regional war,
Equador has simultaneously moved 10,000 troops to the Colombian border in
anticipation of increased hostilities as US military personnel increase air
operations from the US base in the coastal city of Manta. All of these
events, occurring in close proximity, add further credibility to FTW's long
held position that a Vietnam-style conflict in Colombia was essential to
prevent the total collapse of the American stock market.

FTW has previously documented how an estimated $250 billion in illegal drug
money is laundered through the US economy annually and how a 1999
"solicitation" by NYSE Chairman Richard Grasso for the FARC guerillas to
invest their drug profits in Wall Street was summarily rejected. The leftist
rebels chose instead to keep their money in Colombia. Also irritating for
the American economy and markets is the fact that Colombian rebels, who now
control the southern third of Colombia, occupy lands estimated to hold
billions of barrels of high grade crude oil sought after by, among others,
Occidental Petroleum.

A total US market collapse, if unchecked, would also threaten to destabilize
the US dollar which is the dominant reserve currency around the world. That
could have the effect of setting off a worldwide depression similar to that
of 1929-38. As a rapidly coalescing European Union attempts to find economic
strength by distancing itself from US influence (and instability) the US has
countered with increasing disregard for near unanimous global opposition to
its plans for war. That war will inevitably involve US military personnel in
combat operations.

The strongest confirmation that we have seen of the inevitability of war is
a report today on www.narconews.com citing Village Voice media critic
Cynthia Cotts who noted on March 2 that "The New York Times plans to move
its Buenos Aires bureau to Bogota or Caracas sometime soon. Other papers are
following suit. The Los

The rise of capitalist elites

Central to Smith's model of a market economy was the condition that all buyers
and sellers must be small. In this way, prices could not be influenced by
individual actors, but would reach a fair and reasonable level - through fair
competition between sellers, and comparison shopping on the part of buyers. In
Smith's model, very large producers - who had the power to dominate markets - were
specifically forbidden. The dynamics of capitalism, on the other hand, lead
naturally toward monopoly. While Smith's arguments helped pave the way for
capitalism, it is the natural dynamics of capitalism which have prevailed, not the
enlightened dynamics which Smith prescribed.

If one central principle could be identified, which best characterizes the essence
of the Industrial Revolution, that principle would be 'economy of scale'. That's
what factories, and steam engines, and mass production are all about. By
concentrating lots of equipment, resources, and workers all in one place, it is
possible to produce more and cheaper products than with many small operations. In
a large operation one can use more powerful and efficient equipment; one can
demand discount prices from suppliers; one can set up an efficient distribution
system - and there are many other advantages as well. Unless there are sufficient
regulatory restrictions placed on the size of an operation, the natural tendency
is for the large to gobble the small, and the larger to gobble the large, '...and
so adinfinitum'. And this is exactly what has happened, right up to the current
day - with its mega retail stores, global fast-food chains, transnational
corporations, and the increasing concentration of world commerce into the hands of
a small number of huge operators.

In order to understand the dynamics of capitalism, recall the capitalist paradigm:
'wealth accumulation through initiative innovation'. Building factories showed
one kind of initiative, and lobbying for new economic policies showed another.
The entrepreneur and the investor, in pursuit of greater wealth, must always ask
themselves the following question: 'Given my available assets, what strategy will
bring me the greatest future returns?' The answers to this question are as varied
as the human imagination, and it is that 'creativity in pursuit of ever-greater
wealth' which has guided the course of history ever since capitalism took hold.

Industrialists, bankers, and financiers formed the core of the capitalist
community, and as such they were clearly an important and influential segment of
society. Governments looked to this community when financing was needed for wars
and other government endeavors, and it was from this community that Finance
Ministers and other important government officials would usually be selected. The
interests of government and the interests of capitalism became intertwined, and
government policy increasingly

This is monumental ignorance from Joshua.
Michaelj is correct: "Deregulation did NOT occur."
The power companies would love to build more
powerplants and have more electricity to sell
 to the people of California.

1_ Where is it written that privately owned corporations
get to decide anything about California's power needs.
Why do you even PRESUME such a thing?

They have been prevented from doing so by the
environmental wacko groups and the politicians
and bureaucrats who carry out the anti-development
agenda. It has become virtually impossible to
build new power plants in California. The regulatory
"red tape" (including endless environmental impact
studies) have, in effect, prohibited the electric
companies from meeting the demand for electricity.

2_ If the people of California vote to paint all buildings
and cars pink, then that's way it goes. If they decide
that they don't want to live in a poisoned environment,
then that just shows how sane they are. If private companies
can't meet that requirement, then fuck em. The state should
take over complete responsibility for the state's power needs
as desired by the state's citizens, and kick out the private
businesses who won't or can't comply.

 It's that simple.

Yes. It's that simple.

Now the people of California have to shiver
 in the dark.

They won't shiver in the dark for long. Just watch.

Blaming the Electric Companies for this state of
affairs is a classic example of delusional denial.

Nationalize the electric companies. Problem solved.

Do you mean American and English dual citizenship? If anything I could
have American and German dual citizenship, but that would be like having

our sailors murdered in INTERNATIONAL WATERSISRAEL HAD
TO PAY DOLLARS ON THAT ONE, DIDN'T THEY - BUT IN THE END IT WAS OUR
MONEY THEY PAID OUT, WASN'T IT.

No. Actually it was just your money. They didn't tell you because they
didn't want you to get upset.

 USS LIBERTY
"Attack one American and you attack all Americans" was recently
proclaimed by President Clinton. More recently, an Assistant Secretary
for State proclaimed that the U. S. government always protects its
citizens. These are damn lies and meaningless words. These words were
not true in 1967 (when Israel deliberately attacked the USS LIBERTY,)
and unfortunately, and in spite of these beautiful words, they are not
even true today. Moreover, there is no such thing as justice.

Sad but true. You didn't write this did you? It's coherent.

(To see a pilot's eye picture of the USS Liberty CLICK HERE)
(To see a bigger, beautiful picture of the Liberty CLICK HERE)
(Israel claims they thought it was an Egyptian horse transport.)
On that June day in 1967, the weather was beautiful... Clear and sunny,
visibility unlimited... the LIBERTY, an elaborate state-of-the art
intelligence gathering platform, was in international waters off the
Gaza strip and was flying the Stars and Stripes. Israeli reconnaissance
planes flew overhead for hours. Pilots and ship's crew waved to each
other. Then, inexplicably, unmarked Israeli aircraft began attacking the
 ship.
The defenseless LIBERTY radioed for help. Two aircraft carriers in the
Med responded by launching fighter aircraft. Unbelievably, they were
recalled by the White House. RADM Geis, then commanding the carriers in
the Sixth Fleet, called Washington personally to confirm the order.
SecDef McNamara came on the line, then President Johnson. Johnson
indicated to Geis that the aircraft were to be returned, that he would
not have his allies embarrassed, and that he didn't care who was killed
or what was done to the ship. Geis, like any good sailor, recalled the
 aircraft.

Why do you think this happened you retarded cow? It's because the US got
caught playing booth sides in a war, and it was betraying its ally. With
friends like this, who needs enemies?

The US could not afford this kind behavior to become known because it
was competing for influence in the world during the cold war. And if it
was known that the US was an unreliable ally for the smaller nations
to hook up with, then they could always go next door. To the Soviets.

That's why they covered up the Liberty incident. This was the same gang
that brought us the Gulf of Tonkin incident. Yet another part of the world
US forces had no business being in. The Gulf of Yemen is another place
they don't need to be. Are we getting the point yet? The US military has
no business being outside US borders.

Israel Radio correspondent Nissim Keinan reported this evening that
he observed the situation at the Carni checkpoint. "At one point
Israeli forces shot straight up into the air to scare away the mob.
Now even though the soldiers shot straight up in the air, hitting no
one, four Palestinain ambulances came up to the crowd with sirens
wailing for the benefit of the cameras and proceeded to evacuate a
few fake wounded. The only people who were actually wounded while I
was there were shot later as they were throwing fire bombs. And they
were hit by sharp shooters."

34 men died on that ship the USS Liberty - 171 wounded, and while our
AMERICAN sailors lie upon the decks wounded those cowardly bastards in

This ship was in International Waters

How do you know?

 the Israelies lied and said
 they flew no colors,

Do you know that the Liberty was an electronics packed spy ship? Or was
it just on a Mediteranian pleasure cruise while a full scale war was
going on?

but it was their intent to sink this ship - dead
men tell no tales but a message got through.

Maybe it was?

This is carefully documented and recorded.I have concluded Joshua,

Yes they are sweetie.

So Remember the USS Liberty and the garbage that tried to kill them all.

Time to cut off funds to these parasites on the back of the American

Israel Radio Correspondent Nissim Keinan reported this evening from
Netzarim Junction in the Gaza Strip that today he observed himself a
Palestinian ambulance parked next to Netzarim Junction unloading
crates of ammunition and fire bombs. He observed some of the bombs
  thrown.

Keinan noted that the Palestinians are exploiting standing orders in
the Israeli Army not to shoot at ambulances.

 Sounds like propaganda to me...

 Bill.

1) Those are the standing orders.
2) IMRA is extremely reliable as a news source.
3) This doesn't mean that it's not propaganda. But it is true.

You are implying that it's not true. But you don't know that do you?

http://abcnews.go.com/sections/tech/DailyNews/cybercrime000811.html

By Paul Nowell
The Associated Press
C H A R L O T T E, N.C., Aug. 11 — Saying prevention is better than prosecution,
federal law enforcement officials and private companies unveiled a new effort today to
protect banks, utilities and other businesses from computer hackers and terrorists.
“You can’t do much after the cow is out of the barn,” said U.S. Attorney Mark
Calloway at the launching of InfraGard, a program that is opening its first state
chapter in North Carolina.
The North Carolina InfraGard chapter, with 100 members, will hold its first
meeting Sept. 1 at the headquarters of Duke Energy in downtown Charlotte. Plans are in
the works to open a satellite office near Research Triangle Park.
Grass-roots Crime Fighting
InfraGard is a grass-roots effort to respond to the need for cooperation and
collaboration in countering the threat of cyber crime and terrorism to private
businesses and the government.
By the end of September, there will be InfraGard chapters in all 50 states,
Calloway said.
With advice from the FBI, each local chapter will be run by a board of directors
that includes members of private industry, the academic community and public agencies.
Banks, utilities, and other businesses and government agencies will use a secure
Web site to share information about attempts to hack into their computer networks.
Members can join the system at no charge.
A key feature of the system is a two-pronged method of reporting attacks. A
“sanitized” description of a hacking attempt or other incident — one that doesn’t
reveal the name or sensitive information about the victim — can be shared with the
other members to spot trends.
Then a more detailed description also can be sent to the FBI’s computer crimes
unit to determine if there are grounds for an investigation.

Service Free for Members
The key is the sharing of the information, said Doris Gardner, who is in charge of the
FBI’s computer crimes unit in Charlotte.
“When someone learns that someone from Brazil is trying to get into their
personal computer, all they know is that they were knocking on the door,” she said.
“They don’t know if that same hacker is trying to do the same thing to a state agency
in Raleigh.”
Cybercrime has jumped in recent years across the nation, particularly in hotbeds
of financial commerce and technology like Charlotte.
“Ten years ago, all you needed to protect yourself was a safe, a fence and
security officers,” said Chris Swecker, who is in charge of the FBI’s Charlotte
office. “Now any business with a modem is subject to attack.”
FBI agents investigating computer hacking that disrupted popular Web sites
including Amazon.com, CNN and Yahoo! this year identified several North Carolina
victims. The investigation has also identified computer systems in North Carolina used
by hackers to commit such attacks.
Prosecutions of hackers have been hampered by the reluctance of businesses to
report security intrusions for fear of bad publicity and lost business. Meanwhile, too
many corporations have made it too easy for criminals by sacrificing security for
speed and accessibility.
Jack Wiles, who will lead the local InfraGard chapter’s board, said a recent
report estimated 97 percent of all cybercrime goes undetected. Wiles, a computer
security expert, has a firewall on his personal computer to prevent hackers from
getting into his files.
“I get at least one report a day that somebody was trying to get into my
computer,” he said. “The Net is a wonderful place, but it’s also a dangerous one.”

 Hello CTRL,
I have question for any of you observing the bombing of Yugoslavia. Has anyone seen
on any major media news service the full consequences of the bombing of Yugoslavia? I
have only to date seen the structural damage to buildings and other types of
structures being done. I have yet to see any dead bodies as in dead people in any of
the stuff broadcast on T.V.. I have heard the newscatsters repeatally report that
some numbers of people have been rumored to have been killed by Serbian officeals. I
would bet even money they are not showing any of the dead bodies or dead people in
the views of bombed out buildings and structures in order to propagandally sanitize
the bombing going on over there. If the general public were allowed to view the
entire consequences of the bombing over there I think they would view this very
differently. There is a mass campaign to try and enlist new young recruits to all
branches of the military. In my oppinion if they saw on T.V. the actual bodies of!
!
 dead
people as a direct result of war I seriously doubt they would enlist. I would like
to hear anyones oppinion concern the topic of the medias lack of total reporting of
the Bombing of Yugoslavia. They to date are only broadcasting half truths if that
much. Have a great day :-)

C-Span runs Serbian news with English subtitles from Serbia quite
often.
The propaganda is stilted and not of the quality that the West puts
out.

Much of the propaganda is factual it appears. Plenty of dead bodies.
Lots of destruction. Probably all real.

In his long post there is much which I am in total agreement with. However, the

You are, of course, welcome to draw any conclusions you wish from a text that says
nothing whatsoever about
the institution of slavery. There are a number of New Testament passages that speak
DIRECTLY to the issue,
and not a single one of them even remotely criticizes the institution of slavery...
In fact, the opposite is
true. Slaves are told to "be good slaves, industrious, honest" etc. Masters are
told to supervise/manage
their slaves without resorting to intimidation and brutality. Oenesimus, a run-away
slave, was told to
return to to his master, and Paul told the master, Philemon, that he would
personally recompense him for
whatever Oenesimus might have stolen or cost him in lost productivity. If slavery
were immoral, and the
biblical writers spoke of the institution many times, they were strangely remiss for
not criticizing Christian
 slave-holders.

(Though I can understand the problem of those who (like Jefferson) inherited
slaves and did not understand
what to do about the situation). I don't, however, believe that Jesus would have
called upon his disciples
to take up the sword against their owners.

You may speculate all you wish about what Jesus might have said. But an honest
study of the issue of slavery
will not lead to the conclusion that it is immoral.

My, my... You are so bereft of manners... I will answer your stupid question

my wife... It is amazing to me that people such as you cannot comprehend success
without chicanery... I suppose that it reflects your normal behavior.

One good thing about being poor...you don't lose sleep at night

OH? Poor people like to have their "stuff" stolen???

No, we don't have 'stuff' to BE stolen! ;-)

 Bullshit.

That is simply a lie... I have never stolen anyone ELSE'S resources...

But you argue that it is your RIGHT to take as much oil from the ground to feed

No... As a matter of fact, I haven't taken ANY oil from the ground.. Some people
who owned oil in the ground extracted it and sold it to some people who made
gasoline with it, and they sold it to me... Simple things are very confusing to
you, aren't they? Your hypocrisy is amazing. as though you don't enjoy the
benefits of plentiful and relatively inexpensive petroleum products...

Just WHERE do you think that oil resides? Unless you're Jethro with your own
'bubbling crude', that oil you want to extract to your heart's content belongs
  to other people...

I think it "resides" in the ground... As a matter of fact some of it belongs to
me. And I'd like to sell more of it... In the meanwhile, I haven't taken any oil
from anyone who didn't have desire to sell it... It is only people such as you who
think they have the right to take by force what other people own.

You argue that all the minerals in the Earth should be exploited for your
own use -- do you live on top of a mine?

 Nope... wish I did, though.

If not, then you are arguing for taking the resources which belong to others,
and wasting them for your own frivolous needs...

That's bullshit, too. I don't "take resources" from anyone... That's what
facsists and socialists (such as you) do. I purchase what I use from willing
sellers What I do with them after that is none of your business...
Furthermore, you haven't a clue as to whether I use them for necessities or
 frivolous purposes.

For someone so focused on what a people PRODUCE, I wonder just what
SQUAWK produces...other than a lot of hot air...

  I make a better-than-average living providing information...

Then you admit that you in fact do NOT 'produce' a thing...

Mostly I help my clients keep a larger portion of what they produce. Their
greatest threat to success is folks like you who feel that they have a right to
 what my clients own.

  I am a consultant.

A paid producer of hot air...

Whatever The people who pay me do so willingly, so I suppose they think the
 "hot air" is worth something.

Lots of people pay quite handsomly to hear what I think... You are a
fortunate recipient of my wisdom at no charge... See how generous I am?

As are you...I also am a consultant, billed out at $125+ an hour...
but unlike you, I also produce something tangible in addition to my hot
air, as my 'information' is followed up with a service...

Good for you... I charge a bit more than you do... I wonder if your psychic
abilities (or lack thereof) came through training or were they inherited? What
makes you think I don't provide on-going services?

June... You make yourself look foolish with these kinds of accusations and bitter
denunciations... It boils down to this: You think that the only way people obtain
wealth is by chicanery or extortion... I presume that is your normal way of doing
business, or you would not think that way. I risk making the same mistake that
you have made by surmising that your pay comes primarily from some government
source rather than honest market-place give and take.

You, and those who think (I use the word loosely) like you do seem to feel that
its OK for you and your pals to take whatever I own (my "stuff") and use it for
your own purposes. I wonder then, if you think it would be "just peachy" if me
and some of my pals showed up at your place, and by threat of violence took
whatever we wanted that you have. If you are truely "democratic" all that would
be necessary is that we "outnumber" you.

Glad to hear it. Who did you have to step on to do so well for yourself?

  Or sleep with? ;-)

That one's cute, too.. I married a poor girl... She's rich now, though.

Avoids answering the question of who you stepped on or slept with to become so
successful in business to become rich white trash...

My, my... You are so bereft of manners... I will answer your stupid question
directly... I "stepped on" no one, and I have not "slept with" anyone other than
my wife... It is amazing to me that people such as you cannot comprehend success
without chicanery... I suppose that it reflects your normal behavior.

One good thing about being poor...you don't lose sleep at night
worrying someone will take your 'stuff'... ;-)

OH? Poor people like to have their "stuff" stolen???

No, we don't have 'stuff' to BE stolen! ;-)

Bullshit.

(or at least, not anything anyone else would waste their time on)...

You also notice Squawk is so very willing to steal someone ELSE'S
resources, while worrying about preserving his own toys...

That is simply a lie... I have never stolen anyone ELSE'S resources...

But you argue that it is your RIGHT to take as much oil from the ground to feed
 your gas-guzzler...

I wonder if your psychic
abilities (or
