Re: corporate espionage
Hi Becky, Which if the several hundred subscribers to the 8+ CDR nodes and potentialy thousands of associated webpages might you be refering to? You seem to have a fuzzy understanding of the concept 'mailing list'. On Sat, 10 Mar 2001, Becky wrote: Read your article. Most of the examples involve pharm companies. Re: corporate espionage
Ok, let me say this again You are sending a note to a distributed mailing list. It has 8 core nodes with each node hosting their own set of independent subscribers. The total number of subscribers is potentaily several hundred. You are acting like you're sending a note to an individual. You are NOT. I happen to be the operator of the ssz.com node and I'm trying to get you to understand that you're request is worthless as worded. ssz.com is NOT the same computer (not even in the same state) as cyberpass.net. We simply share cross-feeds on our traffic. If you would like more info as to why, please visit: http://einstein.ssz.com/cdr The Cypherpunks are a group of people discussing cryptography, civil liberty, and economics. If you're question is in one of those areas then feel free to expand upon your problem. If not you should probably go someplace else. Denial of Service Attack on Cypherpunks?
There's been planty of traffic. Want a date with a lawyer? :) On Thu, 8 Mar 2001, Ray Dillinger wrote: Okay, majordomo at the node I subscribed to still lists me when I do a "who cypherpunks", but I haven't recieved any messages from cpunx for 3 days - not even spam! - Which is clearly wrong. Also, there is nothing new in the web archive for the period. Hence, this message. If it doesn't land back in my inbox, that will tell me something about the problem. If on the other hand the distribution is working, perhaps someone who knows something can tell me something else about the problem. Spam: To the clueless toad.com subscribers
http://einstein.ssz.com/cdr/index.html The reason you people get all the spam is that you don't recieve any of the day to day traffic on the CDR, you just get the crap sent to toad. What should happen is that the operator of toad.com should be asked to make their intention clear as to the long term support of the list on that machine. They should further be asked to begin to act to reduce the level of spam through that address. If they refuse then I believe we would then be justified in dropping all connections to it since such a position is tantamount to DoS attack.
