Well, chflags does not exists on GNU/Linux. It should be chattr.
Now I think this is quite dangerous. If someone move files directly
from the file explorer, then the .xmp won't be moved with them. I know
that this is BAD

some users (like me ;) ) seem to be distracted by the XMP sidecar files created
by darktable (and likewise Lightroom). I would suggest adding an option to make
them hidden, i.e. mark the files as hidden during their creation. Like calling
"chflags hidden“ on the file on Mac.
