level down to noisy. If for the finest detail (far right) you lift this

I have installed it and tested it. It works really well. I recommend
others try this for noise reduction. I have a 3200ISO image shot on a Canon
G16 (small sensor) and the preset did a great job controlling noise with
little compromise to detail.

suppress it very effectively, leaving fine-grained luma noise behind.

I agree with your observations. I often use more than one denoise
option. I now really like the denoise profiled chrominance only option.

Just a quick comment on this: the astrophoto denoise (formerly non-local
