DNG files can be treated like a RAW file. Some cameras, like Pentax even offer it as a RAW file format instead of PEF. Therefore much better than Tiff file. Especially with adjustments such as white balance. Of course when we can do CR3 files in darktable that would be better than Tiff or DNG.
