you will regain nearly everything from your photos when you re-import
them. but you will not regain settings and configurations you had for
darktable, itself.

[darktable-user] Installing darktable 3.0 on windows

2020-01-10 Thread Delbert brown
Hello
Thank you but I uninstalled deleted everything I could find associated with
darktable. I than went to the registry delete evething that had darktable in
it.
I than went back reinstall darktable 3.0 after not bothering with it for 3 days
and it is now working but it does appear that I have lost everything I had from
2.6 so am starting from scratch.

Thank You

Interesting, maybe they aren't added until a certain state change, not sure...

The numbers a due to per-view-state settings, see here:
 https://github.com/darktable-org/darktable/pull/3726#issuecomment-568932725

I personally just set them all to FALSE. :-)

Interesting, thank you!

They did not appear though, until I deleted the existing
`~/.config/darktable/darktablerc` and restarted Darktable. And I had
to go to darkroom to make that setting show up. I have now

$ grep panels_collapse_controls ~/.config/darktable/darktablerc
darkroom/ui/0/panels_collapse_controls=FALSE
darkroom/ui/panels_collapse_controls=FALSE
lighttable/ui/1/panels_collapse_controls=FALSE
lighttable/ui/panels_collapse_controls=FALSE
lighttable/ui/preview/panels_collapse_controls=FALSE
slideshow/ui/panels_collapse_controls=TRUE

Which of them are dispensable? And what do the numbers mean? And how
to disable in Slideshow and Print?

Thanks
Stefan

Guido, I too was extremely interested, and (being quite the newbie) I
tried.

Everything goes well until the 'fakeroot' build command, where I get

(a) a long series of warning about Lua* and then

(b) an error 2 fatal failure as 'the recipe for target "
override_dh_auto_configure " has failed'

I am unable to interpret what this override failure means... If you have
any advice...

Hervé

(*) the Lua error is (in french here, 'avertissement' means 'warning') :

dpkg-source: avertissement: suppression du répertoire src/external/lua
ignorée
dpkg-source: avertissement: suppression du fichier
src/external/lua/Makefile ignorée, utilisez --include-removal pour la
prendre en compte

(followed by a long range of similar warnings)

I am on Debian 9.11...

Aw: [darktable-user] Monitor

2020-01-10 Thread Michael Fritze
Currently I have an old 30" NEC 2560x1600.

Still waiting for a good upgrade.

31.5" 4k is smaller in Y

Approx. 38...40" 4k...6k would be best. Maybe 2x.

43" 4k is available but exotic with some disadvantages.

Re: [darktable-user] Monitor

2020-01-10 Thread Bernhard

Hi,

I think
- IPS Panel is a must (angle-independent image reproduction)
- min. 100% sRGB is a must
- 16:10 is good (better than 16:9 for use with darktable because of the
side panels)

and so years ago I bought a hp E241i which is good in terms of color space.
See
https://www.bilddateien.de/blog/2014-12-monitor-hp-e241i-fuer-bildbearbeitung-bezahlbar.html
3rd diagram.

This was slightly more than 200 EUR at the time.
