Dashers,
I think we're all enthusiastic about the common build but we're all sort
of waiting for the first shoe to drop so that we can jump in and work on
things. This is probably my fault for not organizing the effort better.
And, worse still, I'm about to take my summer vacation so I'll be of

Yes, we do all of that.
Well nearly! But it's just a case of me getting the time to finish
this out.
OK, a matter of where you look of course. The build present in the

Hi Nick,
I'm CC'ing this to Adrian Skehill who is the Buckminster build-meister.

Our current approach is to first build, then configure a runtime that
contains the JUnit test and then run them. Headless e
In terms of scalability (think same infra, 20+ projects), I'd rather
see someone try to build GEF, VE, or PDT than a quickie demo app.
We're looking for *project* infrastructure, not *application*

I'm all for Buckminster's use if it makes talking to PDE e
Would building the Sudoku app be a good example? Any specific
requirements on what the builder should do besides build the product
that I should know about?

Hello, Wayne.
What do you think is the best way to start this?
fyi, I sent rather long email explaining objectives of this maven/osgi
build tool (we call it "tycho") and its current state to m2e newsgroup
few days ago [1]. There is m2e continuous integration build setup at

I'd like to see it. I believe that the point is to make building easier,
not to use any particular technology...

I am obviously biased, but I wonder if you'd be interested to give our
maven/osgi build tool a try? It is still work in progress, but I'd be
happy to help setup sample project or two.

No offense taken. :)
The "unhacking" you refer to is at this point mostly related to hard-coded
path assumptions that were valid on emf.torolab and later on
emft.eclipse.org. Once that is made more generic (or, really, once
build.eclipse.org's paths are supported), the rest will flow more easily.

Would it be of interest to exploit using Buckminster as the foundation
for this build system? If so, I'd be happy to help out.
