Do not try to do SMTP AUTH first, as it can be very hard. I recommend doing things in this order: First, get Postfix, DBMail and MySQL working. I don't know what your experience level is, but for a newbie, this alone can be a daunting task. Second, get stunnel working. If DBMail is working, then

My problem continues - maybe its something I did wrong in dbmail.conf? (imap stanza pasted below) I have a server with sendmail, squirrelmail, imapproxy and dbmail, a separate postgresql server dedicated just as a mail store, and another www / cf server which runs a lot of queries of the dbmail
