Here is an untested patch to fix this, it makes hw-detect load the
airport module earlier, to match the load order of the installed system.

I've reverted this change since it breaks display using any
non-unicode capable terminal, which is most of them. Verified by
three people, using four consoles. It's far too late to be making this
kind of change without consulting anyone.

It's been a while but i think the cause of this problem
was something like, i didn't have mod-init-tools installed.
Or the kernel didn't used initrd, or something.
I compiled my own kernel and it works.
