when installing into a vmware, I somehow managed to coax the installer
into not recognizing the installation CD (full snapshot CD1 from
2007-02-26) any more. This brought the installer into an infinite loop
where it kept asking for the disc again and

If such a screen needs to be shown, this should be the installer's job.

example, if the shell on tty2 has /target as its cwd, no error message
is displayed, but one is returned without further notice to the menu,
