This bug seems to be (finally!) fixed in 1:8-4-1, at least for my Radeon
Mobility 9600 (M10). I have no more lockups when logging off or stopping

Just for the record: contrary to what the original reporter mentions,
fgl_glxgears doesn't work on 32-bit either. It produces the exact same
error message here (GLXUnsupportedPrivateRequest). This is with
version 8.43.2.
I can confirm this bug has been around for a long time (at least since
8.28). I suspect it to be related to the infamous Xorg hangs when
logging out (a.o. 418338, 400743, 402375, and 345040), which has been
plagueing us for nearly two years now. Sigh[1].

release (8.28.8). This seems to fix a substantial number of outstanding
bugs for fglrx-driver. It also adds support for Xorg 7.1.

which provides the inter_module functions. The fglrx kernel module loads

I know, I know. I have an 0.32 ready, which uses libdb4.3 (and is
generally much better than the 0.26 currently in Debian), but I still
haven't got a sponsor to upload it :-(
