I've found another method to connect using pptp:
Just put
iface pptp inet ppp
provider pptp
in /etc/network/interfaces and
noauth
defaultroute
persist
pty pptp 10.0.0.138 defaultroute --nolaunchpppd
into /etc/ppp/peers/pptp

I use pptp for some time now by just
writing the pptp command in an up line.
example interfaces lines:
iface eth0 inet manual
up /sbin/pptp 10.0.0.138 defaultroute
down killall pppd pptp

a program (namely update-rc.d) which is included in the
package itself. The only possiblilty to solve this chicken-
egg problem is to use --force options.

well. normally this package will get installed by
some debian installation routine, but since i
manually migrated my system from knoppix back
to a normal debian sarge, I had to install
sysv-rc manually. First I removed the knoppix
