Hi Sergej,
Does 2:13.2+dfsg1-4 work perfectly on your configuration using VDPAU?
Playing, stopping, changing resolution while playing video, fast forward,
etc.?
h264 content works fine here with 2:13.2+dfsg1-4 and VDPAU.

Are your mpeg2 streams also interlaced ?
the mpeg2 tv streams here in germany are interlaced. The 720p h264
streams are not. We do not have 1080p/i ones and i dont have any other
interlaced material to test.
Regards
Sergej

It's strange. I have tried to play sample videos attached by Sergej
Wildemann. And they sometimes work but not always. It's random. I have
attached logs for both cases.
After testing for some days, i also noticed
Hi,
i tested the current xbmc package in unstable 13.2+dfsg1-2.
Some videos play, some don't. I couldn't see a reason for that. In my
tests it was like 50:50. All files are mkv with x264 video.
The computer has a radeon GPU:
00:01.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.
Hi,
xbmc 2:13.2+dfsg1-2~exp1 works fine like the internal-ffmpeg builds.
Thanks,
Sergej

In the meantime Libav 11 entered testing and there is a good chance
that the VDPAU related fixes in it solved this bug as well.
If you or someone else having access to VDPAU-capable hardware could
test XBMC with it it would

You could recompile mpv from experimental branch:
http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=pkg-multimedia/mpv.git;a=shortlog;h=refs/heads/experimental
I have checked VDPAU.cpp, but the most likely problem is still libav 10.

avconv seems to work with vdpau decoding and the resulting output looks
normal.
$ avconv -hwaccel vdpau -i sample.mkv -vcodec libx264 -ss 10 -acodec copy

avconv version 10-6:10-1, Copyright (c) 2000-2014 the Libav developers

I am using the radeon oss driver with latest mesa 10.1.0-4 to take
advantage of VDPAU acceleration. This kind of worked with xbmc 12.3 with
some tearing, but stopped working with an update to gotham. VDPAU also
works fine through mpv.

I must correct my previous mail. mplayer2 does not work when forcing the
decoder to vdpau with -vc ffh264vdpau. But that seems to be mplayer2
related http://devel.mplayer2.org/ticket/245
Is there any other option to test vdpau on libav10?

Package: mesa
Version: 9.2-1
Severity: wishlist
Mesa 9.2 added the much awaited support for UVD hardware video
decoding on r600g and radeonsi through VDPAU.
It would be great to make use of this and get rid of fglrx with partly
broken XVBA/VA-API acceleration.
