A self compiled xgpsspeed used to work on Debian in the old days on gpsd 1.x.
I see the same problem on multiple machines with an otherwise working gpsd

Something is wrong. All xgpsspeed seems to do is have just has some
kind of orange circle flashing very fast with two black dots to the
right.
Note my GPS was stationary during this test.
I turn off my GPS and start xgpsspeed and see the
