Well, it repeatably fails for me on three completely different systems:
* laptop (pentium-4m)
* pentium-d
* amd athalon

I am having the exact same problem, on 12 out of 12 debian testing
machines. Hardware, software, and architecture are widely variable.
All are running custom 2.6 kernels however.

Seems to work for me. Does it als hang if you remove and then reinstall
watchdog? Which other processes related to the watchdog update are
