Followup-For: Bug #393245 Package: hal Version: 0.5.8.1-2 i installed the debs from debs.michaelbiebl.de/debs/ and the problem remains.I can access the disk from the command line and from nautilus (if i browse the filesystem and go to the media folder) but the icons dont show up in the gnome

Hm, I'm perfectly able to mount removable hard disks and cd-roms with hal-0.5.8.x. The only issue I could notice, is that in konqueror media:/ only shows removable storage devices (with hal 0.5.7 it also showed non-removable storage devices, local partitions). Could you check the hal properties
