My arch is amd64, so I can't install your .deb. I'm trying to compile
from source without HAL:
# apt-get remove gnome-pilot kill -9 $(ps aux | grep pilot | grep
-v grep | awk '{print $2'}) apt-get source
Compiled following Arjan's instructions (except for a little errata in
apt-get build-dep) and confirmed. No HAL, no sync problem.
Thanks, Arjan.

Hi Felipe,
gnome-pilot currently has some issues when compiled with HAL support as
you might have noticed:

Hi Paco and Carlos,
Thanks for the bug report. I have the same problem since some time. I
suspect it is some interaction with HAL. If I recompile gnome-pilot
without HAL support the problem goes away.
I have a version
Package: gnome-pilot
Version: 2.0.15-2
The same happens to me with a Treo 600, but the mount-unmount trick
doesn't work for me.
I configure my system through the libusb usb: port. pilot-link and
jpilot work perfectly well.

I can sync my Zire71 only one single time. Afet a reboot I can sync again,
but if I press sync button for second time or more, I get a timeout.
The only way to get get sync to work again is rebooting
