Hi,
in my opinion, it is ok to have etherboot-qemu as a binary package
providing only those targets that are of interest for qemu/kvm;
'forcing' 32mb of unwanted stuff for others when it's so easily
avoidable doesn't sound right to me.
Therefore, I've uploaded 5.4.

i think it would still make sense for etherboot to ship the appropriate roms

What about KVM? Does it do the same as QEMU and will change to PXE?
kvm *is* qemu. Stable series (qemu-kvm) of kvm are based on stable
series of qemu.
But it does not really matter. It's more: I don't quite understand

So Vagrant: is it OK for you if we don't solve this for etherboot?

Yes, and sorry to say, but not convinced. My opinion is, that you are
in a very specific case with the requirem

And what about patching qemu to support gzipped ROM images? Is there

Hi,
Thanks for the idea.
Somehow I'm not really sure about this.
First of all, the files in /usr/share/etherboot are currently gzipped?
Can qemu and kvm use them, or do the system administrator has to ungzip
them before?
Why the images for kvm/qemu, why not for vmware/virtualbox/whatnot?
What
Package: etherboot

please consider packaging etherboot with a separate package for roms useful to
qemu or kvm.
currently, qemu (and maybe kvm?) ship roms by adding etherboot as a
build-depends and copying the roms into the package, but this makes it hard
